Of all the pardons Trump signed on his way out this one makes way more sense than the ones of Trumps own family, and close friends like Stone, Bannon, and Manafort who had very significant crimes that harmed our democracy. I agree 100%. Presidential pardons lead to a tainted justice system and corruption, especially when those they pardon are business associates, relatives, donors, or personal friends. It leads to quid pro quo favors and corruption when they pardon criminals, and willing to do them favors in return, especially when those cons are rich. Same with any nonsense ideas of full immunity for Presidents or police. Nope. It just gives those dirty and corrupt ones commiting crimes a get out of jail free card.
I don’t agree with the pardon and think Hunter Biden was rightfully prosecuted and convicted. I also think given what Trump has done and will do with pardons this will make little difference.
The difference too is in 2026 and 2028 the liberal party will essentially be running against Trump AND Biden who will be essentially shunned regardless. While in 2022 and of course in 2024 after what Trump did all of these people losing their minds and their party fell head over heels to show fealty to Trump. Joe Biden is irrelevant moving forward. The consequences here aren’t what MAGA’s are acting like will be here. But the hypocrisy here is predictably hilarious with team MAGA.
Yep. Just a couple of days ago Jared Kushner’s father who was pardoned by Trump was nominated to be ambassador to France.
he completed his sentence over a decade before the pardon. This pardon is circumventing any punishment or even sentencing. It's also far more serious felony convictions. We all knew Biden was full of ish tho.
Biden should have used this transition period to set an example for Presidential restraint, even if it means exposing his son to prosecution by vultures who have an axe to grind. Not easy to do, I understand, but definitely better for the country, which as President should be his overriding concern.
And so that makes it fine to reward someone convicted with an ambassadorship. as stated I don’t agree with Hunter Biden’s pardon. I don’t agree with Kushner’s either. I’m not defending either
