He was willing to shoot the 3 but considering he shot 20% Jalen is still better. All the things you said are correct but Sheppard is worse than Jalen on all aspects of the game so why should Sheppard take Jalen's minutes? Only ROFs want that.
Green was a gamble. He is overpaid now but 3 yrs later who knows? 25M is what backups make now so its not that much of an overpay. Sengun could have waited a year and bet on himself and gotten that max. He took less to help the team as if he played hard ball I'm sure Stone would have caved. Stone is the same guy who offered Oladipo 45M to stay on the team. If Sengun started getting mad and said he will not resign with the Rox Stone would've given him that max.
People who say that are just delusional. You dont find good 6'10 stretch PFs except at the top of the lotto.
What backups make 25 million? Green got 20% of the cap having never been close to a starting level player. Sengun didn’t not take less, again, that’s just ludicrous. He didn’t have the option to not resign, that’s not how nba free agency works after your rookie deal.
Lots of backups are in the 25M range. Naz Reid, Anfernee Simons, Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Isaac, Terry Rozier etc How is Green never been a starting level player? He won WCF player of the month last year. You are just wrong and a jater if you think Green jas never been starting caliber. NBA is real life its not NBA 2K. why you think players can make trade demands to a specific team and their teams try to accommodate them? Why you think Morey willingly relinquished Chandler Parsons from his rookie contract so he can be signed for more money? Sure Stone can hold Sengun over the barrell just like PHX did with Ayton but that will alienate Sengun and breed resentment. Not sure if you realize how important it is not to piss off your franchise center.
You’re welcome to call me a jater that’s fine. He has never had a season where he played at a starting caliber level. I don’t know how that can be disputed unless you’re just a blind yay points guy.
If Jabari can hit that middy more consistently and is a little more aggressive against little dudes he’s a lock for the core. Jabari defensive win shares is top 30 and he’s shooting a much better 36% from three. I’m also loving Udoka testing the small ball with Bari spacing the floor at the 5. 6,10 is only 2-3 inches shorter than guys like Chet 7,1.
One of the most complete games he's ever played tonight. Still hasn't been able to find consistency yet, but more good games than bad the last few weeks, and a few legit great games mixed in.
Jabari hitting 3's and making an impact on help defense/rebounding make him a viable player on a great team. Happy to see the progress.
Hate to correct that but he was named Rookie of the Month in 2022, Player of the Week earlier this year. Although that hot March stretch almost lasted over a full Month. The problem is that you pay players to play the whole season and not just in March. (not MMadness) https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/greenja05.html
Alpi did take less than his market value. Jalen took more than his market value. Relative to Alpi, Bari should not make more than 50 %. Glad to see him making progress.
for the last 10 games, Jabari has been our best 3 pt shooter 47.8% 3FG% 50.5FG% (2nd best) And interestingly enough, Amen 44.4% 3FG% (2nd best real low volume) 61.0FG% (team best) https://www.nba.com/stats/players/t.../12/2024&TeamID=1610612745&dir=A&sort=FG3_PCT
If we could get Jabari at 25m that would be an insane deal. I don't think that they'll mess around with him like they did with Jalen and Sengun. I also don't see him making less than 30m but we'll see. So many mouths to feed.
Exactly, as he gets more comfortable with his added strength, he will play more smoothly and embrace his offensive game. Jabari needs to trust himself more. He has a wonderful looking shot, and he defers way too often to fellas shooting way worse than him. Jabari is going to be, at minimum a top 3 players in his draft no doubt about it. He plays solid defense, he’s starting to get some big man highlights reel blocks, he’s is a team player, he is already a solid rebounder, and he has a great looking shot. He is a WS machine, and he’s only getting better.
The most important moment of the night for him was the miss from 2, Sengun getting the board, kicking out to Jabari for 3 and he tied the game late without hesitation. He needs Dillon and Fred's unwavering confidence to just keep shooting. If he misses a few he tends to start shying away. Like no dude....outside of a deep Sengun post up, a Jabari middie or elbow is probably the highest percentage shot this team has. He needs to look for his shot more. Isn't it weird that as Jabari has played better, Sengun is suddenly increasing his assist numbers?
