His ASST/TO ratio is one of the worst on the team as well.

No one is basing their opinion on one stat. Obviously context is required. 20 games of plus/minus in context is not useless. Lineup data is not useless.

I bet Ime Udoka would slap the taste out of anyone talking down on Dillon Brooks at this particular moment, and tell you that you know nothing, Jon Snow. What do you think about that? Agree? Disagree?

I would say it’s completely irrelevant i guess? His bpm, vorp, ts, rebounding are all terrible like always. I don’t think coaches/GMs are always correct in their decisions.

Can we take seriously any basketball opinion that questions Ime Udoka and Dillon Brooks in this manner after everything they’ve already done here?

This reminds me of @rocketchamp’s PJ Tucker takes. :D

We just have different views of what brooks has done here. He was absolutely awful last season IMO but has been less awful this season. You should probably not take anyone’s opinion all that seriously though, unless it’s nook posting astros stuff that’s sourced.

Shai has an elite first step so he can get to the basket in a drought.

Brooks was good the first part of last year and then was awful. He has been pretty dang solid this year. we probably would still be better off with Tari starting. I assume Ime believes there is an intrinsic value that Brooks is bringing as a veteran.

Ya I don’t really disagree. I think whenever possible, it’s better to limit guys to 28-30 minutes. Obviously the starting lineup has been great so i wouldn’t expect a change.

Yea. I want all these guys sticking to 28. It should keep everyone fresh and helps to balance development.

$300-600 is the low end for tournament basketball teams honestly. I paid close to $1,000 for my older son about 10 years ago or so. The program we both volunteer to coach with now is sponsored by a nonprofit and it’s still around $300 just to cover tournament entry fees and uniforms for a season. We scholarship kids who have trouble paying, but that’s the nonprofit that handles that. And that’s with one paid guy who runs the program and the rest of the coaches as volunteers.

The gripe is what percentage of families have access to the scholarships......and how many of scholarship athletes really have a chance to make it to the league.

    Appreciate the information, breh.

It's sports in general these days. It used to mainly be high dollar costly country club type sports like tennis, golf, swimming, ice skating, or skiing. But now it's many other sports where kids would never be competing without parents spending hundreds of thousands over years giving them every advantage to master a sport like basketball and baseball compared to a kid just trying to succeed on his own. Even Olympics are like pro sports these days.

You’re absolutely right. It’s why I love this nonprofit. We try to make sure kids have the same opportunities to participate regardless of how much money their parents make. We do it for a whole host of sports and other activities…not just hoops. After school homework help…track…basketballl…dance…drama…computer coding…and more. It’s sincerely the coolest thing I’ve ever been a part of

This sounds really awesome. Is this in Houston? What's the organization? I'd like to donate.
