Even conservatives think these tech billionaires are evil. https://www.theamericanconservative.com/marc-andreessen-dr-evil-silicon-valley/ Is This Man Dr. Evil? One of the most remarkable things I’ve read in a long time is Tad Friend’s New Yorker profile of Silicon Valley venture capitalist and tech guru Marc Andreessen. Andreessen comes off as an iconic figure of our time: a bona fide genius, wielder of enormous power, and visionary whose vision happens to be, well, evil. I don’t know how else to put it, frankly. Read this passage about Silicon Valley and the field that Andreessen helps lead. Emphases below are mine: Corporate culture, civic responsibility, becoming a pillar of society—these are not venture’s concerns. Andy Weissman, a partner at New York’s Union Square Ventures, noted that venture in the Valley is a perfect embodiment of the capitalist dynamic that the economist Joseph Schumpeter called “creative destruction.” Weissman said, “Silicon Valley V.C.s are all techno-optimists. They have the arrogant belief that you can take a geography and remove all obstructions and have nothing but a free flow of capital and ideas, and that it’s good, it’s very good, to creatively destroy everything that has gone before.” Some Silicon Valley V.C.s believe that these values would have greater sway if their community left America behind: Andreessen’s nerd nation with a charter and a geographic locale. Peter Thiel favors “seasteading,” establishing floating cities in the middle of the ocean. Balaji Srinivasan, until recently a general partner at a16z [Andreesen’s venture capital firm — RD] and now the chairman of one of its Bitcoin companies, has called for the “ultimate exit.” Arguing that the United States is as fossilized as Microsoft, and that the Valley has become stronger than Boston, New York, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., combined,Srinivasan believes that its denizens should “build an opt-in society, ultimately outside the U.S., run by technology.” The game in Silicon Valley, while it remains part of California, is not ferocious intelligence or a contrarian investment thesis: everyone has that. It’s not even wealth: anyone can become a billionaire just by rooming with Mark Zuckerberg. It’s prescience. And then it’s removing every obstacle to the ferocious clarity of your vision: incumbents, regulations, folkways, people. Can you not just see the future but summon it? This is the evil part. It is an extremely powerful gnosticism that really is creating the future, in which nothing stands in the way of the Empowered Self.
Another tech bro who is good at nothing but being at the right place at the right time and bullshitting ever since. He’s actually been spectacularly bad at investing since Facebook.
put all your money into clov and virgin galactic. I actualy made some off of clov and thankfully sold before everything he touched turned to ashe.
There’s a reason why Vance isn’t trusted and has lower approval ratings than even Trump. I just don’t think he’s literally insane. Just a self absorbed evil VC Hedge fund bro who will do or say anything to get ahead. Does that make him more or less risky for the country if he’s running things that Trump who can barely put two sentences together but one of those two sentences is a pretty straightforward pledge to end Democracy? I dunno. Both options are bad so either way we are fcked. We are in for a complete change either way and this country just isn’t going to be what it was ever again. If you want to be optimistic than maybe there’s an awakening at the grassroots that creates a movement truly for the people that isn’t this fake smoke and mirrors Trump show populist. I’m a realist though and I think it’s more likely that Americans are just over it with politics and pump is primed for an autocratic government that just tells people what they want to hear to live their lives thinking the dead leader is in charge so they can just go eat their chick fil a and binge the real housewives all weekend. This is just not a country that I feel at the moment has the energy to fight for much of anything. Even Trumps people are kind of weak sauce right now. All you see is posters here just sh$t talking without any real fight on the merits. Just the laziest attempts to bully and troll. It’s pretty pathetic. So we’ll see what happens but the realities are the realities we have to speculate about in terms of paths and outcomes. None of which are good.
Just accept your ass whooping and move on with your life. I promise you things will get so much better than the last 4 years of Biden/Harris shiitshow. Oh wait, you’re living in your own bubble so never mind and please carry on.
And many of these tech bros like Musk and Ramaswamy supported a candidate and a movement that opposes free movement of capital and labor. Instead it push protectionist tariff polices and nativist immigration policies. I’ve been suspecting that Musk not only knows there’s a major dichotomy in MAGA but is deliberately pushing it. His comments regarding how Trump policies will hurt the economy but allow it to be rebuilt on a “stronger foundation” is an attempt to actually make things so bad that will make an opt in society and economy that he and others push more likely.
trump could be found to be client #1 on the epstein list and it wont matter to his supporters...based on all the photos of them together he very well might be client #1. they were obviously way more than just acquaintances.
You believe trump is on the epstein list and the Biden DoJ has been sitting on it? Didnt even leak it prior to the election? Absolutely stupid. Get out of your bubble

Dont need to click link. Im mocking lefty journalism for using the term 'loyalist'. Clearly the memo went out to go with narrative
Jesus Christ.. there is no deep state. The fact that some idiots believe an oligarchy lead by billionaires (including the wealthiest man in the world), grifters, tech titans and investment speculators is going to take down some boogieman deep state is both troubling and sad at the same time. Yes - give the government to the wealthiest in the world, along with grifters… that will end well
He is a loyalist… he is on Trump’s company board, he has called himself a loyalist, he refused subpoenas to testify on investigations into Trump. He is clearly a Trump loyalist - he fits the pattern of most of the people Trump has nominated - people that will pledge loyalty to Trump and not the office or position they fill.
Who currently is running the country? Who decided to escalate the war between ukraine/russia? Who has put trump before duties of their office?
i dont know if he is or isnt, but it is a FACT that they were friends and hung out together on MANY different occasions and there is photographic proof of it. do you acknowledge that trump and epstein were friends and hung out together?
