Sengun is going to take all the swing voters for the W, all these early voters are probably mail in....
I'm kinda surprised at these results, I didn't know Amen was the overwhelming favorite. I also thought there would be a lot more votes for Jalen, although maybe that's due to the Jalen enthusiasts going into hiding when he doesn't play very well.
I like most of them, but I think Amen is special and I'm most excited about his potential and growth. And I like the fact that he seems to be a down to earth humble dude. But I actually think the entire team is nice and talented. I've been a rockets fan for a LONG time, and this is probably the deepest team I've seen as far as number of good prospects with high potential (don't get me wrong, I'm not saying any one of these players are better than Dream, Sampson, Harden etc), but that the young team overall has more talent potential then any other team had all at once (lots of players with sweet potential). I hope somehow we can keep them all and that most of them pan out, but obviously we shall see, and I'm sure it'll be hard to pay everyone. But definitely an exciting time to be a rockets fan.
If Reed had been balling, he would've been the favorite. I think the favorite changes by who's playing really well lately. At least in some cases.
I thought it would be closer between him and Alpi and Jalen for sure, but when I think about it, I guess I'm not that surprised. I think with Amen it's just a combination of things making him really popular around here right now. Obviously he's playing incredibly well right now, and showing significant improvement over his rookie season. He's also not really a player who (at least for now) generates most of his value by creating high-volume offense against set defenses. So he doesn't have as many opportunities to give you an ugly game where he misses a bunch of shots as Sengun or Green. He plays really smart and understands his own limitations, so the main negative he brings, his effect on our spacing (which may be going away if his shooting improvement is for real), is kind of "invisible". On top of that, he does give us plenty of highlight reel plays with his defense and transition offense. Cherry on top is that the way he behaves on and off the court, the stuff he says in interviews, his body language, etc--he just seems like a good, level-headed dude who is really passionate about basketball. Hard not to root for a player like that.
