    You would be right.

Trump was surprised from his first term that people that he choose for key positions would resign or try to stop him from doing criminal and unethical things.

So now - he has found a way around it by appointing those that have shown they will be loyal at all costs, and qualifications are secondary.

Trump in his first term appointed mostly loyalist too or at least people that wanted to destroy the agency they were over or at least corrupt it with the exception of Mattis. The Supreme Court and the diminished role of Congress in impeachment is where things have changed. Yeah the picks are more crazy but we can’t forget that they were still pretty wild the first time.

There are just no checks and balances now. Nobody that will stand in his way if he does what he says he wants to do unless there is a military coup. We are at the point where we are just hoping that either Trump gets bored of trying to exert his power and gives up halfway through these fights, people like Marco Rubio and JD Vance find ways to distract him from the bad stuff, or he gets old and diminished fast and retires to Mar A Lago where he is rarely in DC and JD and co. run the day to day.

The last point is the most likely given his age and now diminished he was this year on the campaign trail (I think people don’t realize how senile he is now because you can clip him in segments sounding like Trump), but it’s not something we can count on because the guy just for whatever reason just won’t go away. The most likely thing we are relying on is Marco Rubio, and JD Vance to do the right thing for a few years while staying in his good graces and avoiding getting fired or getting hung at the gallows like they wanted to do with Pence.

United States President-elect Donald Trump is encouraging a Florida legislator who celebrated the killing of an American citizen by the Israeli military to run for Congress.

Trump said in a social media post on Sunday that if State Senator Randy Fine decides to seek a congressional seat in Florida, the state lawmaker would have his “Complete and Total Endorsement”.

Fine often proclaims that the US has a “Muslim problem”. In 2021, when told by a social media user that Palestinians were being forced out of their homes by Israel, he responded with: “#BlowThemUp”.

According to the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), he also sent a private message to a Florida resident saying: “Go blow yourself up!”

Two years earlier, Fine referred to Jews who support Palestinian rights as “Judenrat” – Nazi collaborators.

Trump picked a lot of people his first Admin that he thought looked or sounded like the part. He liked Jim Mattis because his nickname was “Mad Dog” not realizing he was also considered the most philosophical of military generals. He picked Rex Tillerson because he liked how not only was he an oil guy but looked and sounded like the that. Not realizing that Tillerson was a cerebral executive who understood the need to maintain global order and calm. All of them stymied Trump his first term so he’s decided to go with loyalty and showbiz. With loyalty the most important of that.

While Rubio night see his role as being the adult in the room and trying to calm global leaders and preserve US alliance it won’t surprise me if he ends up thinking the same way Tillerson did and sharing his same fate.

If you feel this way, clearly you're driven more by political ideology than reality.

I give zero ****s how autistics tech billionaires with zero emotional intelligence feel. I do care that they are using their billions to actively destroy the country because they have some incredibly stupid and weird ideas about how government should work.

Vance is terrible. Vance has said he is "plugged into a lot of weird, right-wing subcultures" online. Don’t get your hopes up that he would stop anything.
