In before Jalen has a couple good games and the JOFs try to use that sample size to support their ridiculous claims that Jalen is actually a good basketball player
He was just given a $100mm contract. I’m sorry that the standards are raised and consistency is expected. He’s currently a very inefficient player. That’s simply a fact. I’m sorry that upsets you.
I'd like to see it. It'll be hard to get Amen 30+ with Jalen in the starting lineup. I'd like to see Jalen getting 20-25 and Amen getting 30+, basically inverting their minutes. It doesn't mean he never gets back in the lineup, but he needs to prove it. Amen and Tari are too good to be playing fewer minutes.
I also think Amen should be getting more minutes. But if the big Jalen complaint is he can't hit 3s, then Amen's not going to fix that. He's efficient because he knows his limitations and doesn't take the shots he's bad at. Jalen has too much confidence in his broken J.
Like it or not, Roosh was speaking the truth. For comparison, Malik Beasley was only got one year contract for 6m and he is shooting 41 FG% and 39 3P%. Gary Trent Jr. signed for less than 3m and shooting 41% from 3s. You can argue Jalen is so much better in defense, potentials, or whatsover than other SGs, but Jalen's contract is vastly overpaid. Teams don't pay that much for one dimensional shooting guards nowadays, period. The experiment between Jalen and Sengun are proven to be a failure. The arguments whether Amen or Tari could be able to fill the void is still on the judge. At least we should try, and see how it goes.
Like you said...Amen has much better shot selection than Jalen. He takes the shots he can make whereas Jalen....doesn't. SGA doesn't produce because he's Steph Curry from 3. He kills you like Derozan. Death by a million shots that he knows he can make. I'm not sure what shots Jalen is even good at that aren't transition layups/dunks.
Jalen is an extremely athletic and speedy guard. He should concentrate on driving to the rim in the half court. I'm not comparing the caliber of player, but he should be patterning his game after guards like T-Mac, Kobe, MJ. He's not a splash brother.
I'd honestly do a straight swap of Jalen with Zach Lavine who is averaging 23 pts, 5 rebs, 4 asts on 52% FG and 44% 3PT. This is pretty much what Jalen was averaging during his hot streak. He can hit wide open shots and create his own. He has 1 less year on his contract too...This makes too much sense.
No need to rush into this. We are playing tough basketball and our guys are still babies. We are still 2-3 years away. I am holding our young guys like gold unless a true superstar becomes available. Someone like Donovan Mitchell or Devin Booker would be worth a shake-up. Aside from guys in that class, I'm playing my hand like Doyle Brunson. Fold, fold, fold...
At 47M and has been hurt for 1/4 of a season on avg. Last year he played in 25 games. No use arguing though since it wouldn't work with Jalen's poison pill until this summer. If the Rockets trade Jalen Green it won't be for Zach Lavine. Booker is their target in the off-season, unless Jalen turns it around. If I was a betting man, i'd bet on Jalen being still on the roster at the start of next season. If he turns it around , he is worth his contract. If he doesn't he will not be worth his contract and we won't be able to trade him.
