So, I recently installed and configured the Alexa skill for the Logitech Harmony (remote control) skill to use voice commands through Alexa to the "Harmony hub" for entertainment system turning on and off stuff, switching activities (e.g. 'Alexa, turn on Xbox', 'Alexa, turn on TV', etc.), and changing channels on TV ('Alexa, tune to AMC', 'Alexa, tune to TNT', etc.). You can set up custom voice words to define the channels to change to by adding them during setup. So, I set them all up. They all work fine but using the name "Paramount" seems to be the crazy child. So, I'll say "Alexa, tune to Paramount". Alex starts doing something else not changing the channel and pulls up stuff on Echo. But, if I say "Alexa, tune to Paramount on TV", then it works (i.e. changes the channel) but Alexa says "Tuning to Paramount on TV. Now airing Canine Legend of the Lost Gold" instead of "Ok". This is the only channel it does it for out of all the channels. WTF Amazon/Paramount? You'll are fricking weirdos. Stay away from the word "Paramount" on Alexa. It's special.
This is becoming normal, but this am I go in to buy a coffee at the local 7-11 type store, the cashier is on her phone talking, she never looks up at me, rings me up and never acknowledges the cost or a friggin hello or thanks and keeps talking while I mumble thanks and walk out..............CS is becoming a thing of the past, I should have realized we were doomed when people thought it was ok to wear their PJ`s to Wal Mart LOL
Was at a cafe in a small city in Minnesota yesterday waiting to meet with a client. An older guy in the cafe was watching a news show on his phone, wasn’t wearing headphones and had the sound turned up.
Why do mobile browsers ( on my iPhone eg Safari, Firefox, and Google) always refresh the entire page multiple times when you start reading the article and scrolling down? Is it the f-ing ads causing it? Is it a phone or mobile browser flaw? Is it all news-oriented sites have meta refresh tags firing at fast intervals. I’ve never been more frustrated with anything in my entire life than trying to read news articles on a mobile browser. The page reloads and then you have to scroll back down to where you were reading the article. Nothing makes me more pissed off. Why? Anyone else? Isn’t the small screen size punishment enough? WHY????? WHY?????
People with 3 cars parked in the street and 0 cars parked in their driveways. Then they complain when their cars get broken into.
Something that took me forever to realize that kind of annoyed me is the Russ in the "National Lampoon Christmas Vacation" film is actually the same guy that played Leonard in "The Big Bang Theory". Granted, I never put much thought into it until the other day when I was watching the former for the umpteenth time. I just didn't see the resemblance from young version of him to the older version so I never put it together. lol. This got me thinking that this actor (Johnny Galecki) would be a perfect candidate to lead a sequel based Xmas Vacation type film based on his grown-up self with his own family and I wonder why that hasn't happened because I think it would be better than just remaking a previous National Lampoon film like they did with "Vacation". Surely, they could come up with a script and cast to pull that off that is something fresh? It's way past time imo. I can only watch the original so many times annually. So, I'm kind of annoyed that I didn't realize who that kid in the original was until the other day and I'm also annoyed that the actor hasn't been tasked to carry on the National Lampoon Xmas Vacation (or similar National Lampoon style film) mantle as a grown-up version of Russ (albeit he may have had an offer and turned it down?). Johnny is a funny guy imo and I think it could be a great opportunity. In fact, I wouldn't mind it if Kaley Cuoco played his wife in such a film. Do I have to write the script?
"biweekly" and "bimonthly" meaning the same thing or different things, depending on who you're dealing with, yet "bicentennial" is universally understood https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/on-biweekly-and-bimonthly
My mom's shower head needed cleaning, and that was easy, but I noticed one of the plastic grommets was cracked. Delta will not sell you that proprietary part, so Mom is now on a quest to Home Depot to buy the identical $85 shower head.
If it's identical, take the busted one back to HD in a few weeks, they can put the cost back on Delta and maybe next time they will have more durable product. If it's old, that's really just the cost of buying a 'cheap' showerhead (I know, the 'good' ones are $$$$). However, part of that plastic interface is that it should only be tightened (torqued) barely above hand tightened (or hand-tightened if you're someone who works with their hands all the time), so it probably broke from being over-tightened. You shouldn't even need Teflon tape with modern shower heads.
Nah, but I get ya. She bought the hand-held thing when my dad got sick and needed to sit on a seat in the shower, so 15ish years ago? Now I have every replacement part but THAT, for the next time something goes wrong. ...and you're totally wrong about tape: if it has threads, put some teflon on it. #2 rule of plumbing: s!!t don't flow uphill
#1 rule: don't bite your nails. I'm not wrong bro when it comes to cheap plastic showerheads. With teflon tape, you're adding width to the threads, and the showerhead may not be able to screw on far enough on the pipe to make firm a firm seal with the showerhead gasket. It could also cause more stress on the plastic and earlier failure. Granted, if the threads are ****ed it's a different story. But in most cases, clean them up with a wire brush, wipe off with a towel, put the showerhead on. Sauce: I just put one in for my MIL two days ago. No leaks, no fuss, no muss. She said 'I could have done that' and I said 'you sure could have!' in a nice, encouraging way. With her husband gone, I like to encourage her to do things on her own. She's brainwashed in that special boomer wife way to think she can't do anything a man can do.
every website asking me to disable my adblocker to view their article Hell no, I’m not doing all that for u. U crazy?
My Samsung TV keeps turning off and back on again. Like every 2 minutes. Apparently this is a thing with Samsung TVs. I've been down the wormhole looking for a fix online and I've tried everything. Switched out the power strip, plugged directly into the wall, checked for updates, switched out the Roku, changed batteries in the remotes....I did a factory reset and it worked for a day, then started doing it again. Last night I found a fix that everyone is saying works, but it involves taking off the back panel and messing with a bunch of wires. Yeah, no. I'll probably end up catching my house on fire or electrocuting myself.
At DFW. I had to drop off some of my judo students who were in an earlier flight. We were running late so was going to drop them off at Terminal E and then return the rental car. Still had to stop and get a ticket at the toll booth into the airport and pay a $2 toll on the way out even though I had paid for $42 for unlimited tolls from the rental car company.
Rental car companies are the new scams on the block. On expedia it says unlimited mileage with a decent rate, but when you get there they have a new set of rules, only 50 miles per day and a higher price than stated. Once we complained they withdrew their bs tactics but still required a $1000 deposit
Yep. They put in a bunch of charges on my basic rate too. Given how many toll roads are in TX, that not only was I here for a judo competition but to look at potential sites for clients in other parts of the DFW area I bought the unlimited tolls. Still anoyed I couldn’t just drive into the airport and drop people off.
