Jabari bringing it up full length of the court while being hounded by Siakam is something we never would've seen before. He put it on the deck multiple times and is starting to get that little KD full extension layup thing going. Seems to me that Ime has implemented some rules that the young guys don't eat if they don't rebound or play good defense. Jabari needs to be doing that all of the time. Siakam is another player he needs to be studying. Dude was single handedly keeping Indy in that game with his midrange.
I credit myself and the thread I started when I was finally ready to give up on him lol. Would be nice if he could keep it up...
Thank the Lord. Jabari is making open shots. We are going to blow teams out If it continues. We simply can’t afford for our 6-11 Sniper to not be a hit, because Banchero and Chet are too good. KEEP IT UP JABARI!
i've been highly critical of jabari but the lights might finally be coming on. maybe just letting him chuck an extra 5 shots a game to find some rhythm could be what we need.
Nice one Jabari. Loved watching him drive and score at the rim on multiple plays. Would really like to see this become a normal part of his game.
What's funny is that the Rockets have about the 3rd best and 17th best players out of the 2022 draft and selected 3rd and 17th.
Certainly Banchero/Chet/JalenW are on a different planet. Mathurin looks like a future star, IMO. Dyson looks amazing. Ivey is showing signs… How would you rank Jabari and Tari in there?
Still not that high on Banchero. He is not at all efficient and is a poor defensive player. Chet is great when available. The fear of drafting Chet was body type. At least for now, that fear may have been justified. I though Mathurin was going to be great from the get go, but like with most young guys it took a while. Giving up on Jabari is pre-mature and he might still be a top 3 talent in that draft. Jalen Williams has blown away all expectations. All in all the draft was a good one with lots of depth.
Tonight's matchup with Jerami Grant will be a good measuring stick for Jabari. Can he make Grant work for shots, go to work on the glass, and punish the Blazers when they make mistakes? I don't think Jabari has to initiate much offense (unless the Blazers ignore or leave him alone). If the drive or shot is there, take it and finish with confidence.
I'd put Chet and Jalen Williams ahead of Tari. Paolo has been too inefficient most of his career for me to put ahead of Tari. Tari's offensive rebounding, defense, and now scoring efficiency around the rim puts him ahead of Paolo for me at the moment. Paolo still has a much higher ceiling, but he needs to show it (I think most people just assume he'll fix his efficiency issues or don't care such that they only focus on the good games or ignore that the Magic win games with defense). I'd just point out that Tari's per minute offensive stats look similar to Jalen Williams's first 15 games last season except Tari is a better offensive rebounder. OKC rewarded Jalen Williams with more usage, and it turned out great. Maybe Tari regresses or can't take on additional minutes, or handle addiitonal usage and stay effective. I personally want to find out how good a starting PF Tari is. I don't expect as good a scoring jump as Jalen Williams, but Tari can still be a pretty fine player with his defense and offensive rebounding. I have Jabari somewhere in the 15-20 range from that draft.
Based on now/lately, I rate J-Dub and Tari as #1 and #2. They are both a bit older, though… Chat and Banchero have shown star quality but are injured now… It’ll be interesting to see who emerges as the alpha in ORL. Banchero looked like The One, but Wagner is killing it currently Whatever happened to Kessler?
Yeah, as I said, it's important not to read too much into small sample sizes. Bari has been playing better and will likely be fine.
Hartenstein will keep him healthy enough provided Harty is healthy too. Weaken some of the pressure and beating. This 2 could be hillbilly Sampson and Keem.
Longtime Jabari critic but he was good tonight especially huge bc Eason was bad/hurt It looks to me like he is not taking that low load up step on his jumper and has a quick release like we wanted him to be - hope it continues
