Reading your post and thinking about how Trump is already blasting out of the gate with his menagerie of deviants, all I could think was Caligula and that old quote “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”

And I’m not seeing the right wing cheerleaders here who think being gay is a bad thing rally against any of these terrible people. Open your eyes - We’re all going to suffer from this impending grotesque circus.

    gaetz withdraws from nomination.

first he quit the house then this...i thought he was a fighter with a spine of steel who never backed down from anyone, especially liberals? why would he quit (again) if he did nothing wrong? why isnt he suing kevin mccarthy for slander after mccarthy said he "slept with a 17 year old"?

doesnt seem like much of a "fighter" to me.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2024/11/21/trump-ag-pick-matt-gaetz-says-hes-withdrawing.html

Trump AG pick Matt Gaetz says he’s withdrawing
    • Matt Gaetz said he is withdrawing his name from consideration as President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for U.S. attorney general.
    • “While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition,” said the former Republican congressman from Florida.
    • “There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I’ll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General,” he said.

I saw Menagerie of Deviants open for Flock of Seagulls at the Palladium in '83.

even if all the accusations were proven true we all know that it wouldnt matter to yall.

also, why did gaetz just take himself out of consideration for AG? i thought he was a "fighter"?

him and JD vance were calling on senators the last couple days to shore up support. he obviously realized he didnt have it or he wouldnt have just quit.

I agree with you and that is the issue I am concerned about at this point.

I have been around long enough to know that "my side" doesn't win half the time - and even when they do win, half the time they are a disappointment.

However - in the past both parties would vet appointments and they would eliminate folks that were surrounded by sketchy people or associated with questionable morals.

Now - we have people being appointed that are good with the media in some circumstances, but lack any real qualifications and also have been in trouble or around a lot of trouble. Even some of those that have not been in trouble, are notorious grifters as well like Dr. Oz.

I don't see how appointing these people in anyway benefits the USA - it only possibly benefits Trump because he knows that they are of questionable character and will likely protect Trump or look the other way.

I also fail to see why it is a good thing that the super-rich, some of which did not even grow up in this country should be involved in policy and social issues and making decisions that impact their own businesses and wealth. I have never liked George Soros or Bill Gates or the Koch Brother......... but this is different, Elon Musk is sitting in on phone calls to prominent world leaders.

    It is all a zoo

So the answer is that you do not care.

I don't agree with you - but you are entitled to your opinion.

If you have a teenage daughter you may want to keep her away from several of these guys but that is your call.

Well - that helps me feel a little better about where we are at.

I am glad that there were some Senate Republicans that were concerned about it.

Gaetz was smart enough to recognize his total lack of qualifications for the appointment. Good for him. Surprising that noted genius Elon Musk couldn't recognize this (or was unwilling to publicly do so).

Yeah...that's not why he removed himself from consideration. My guess is that the Ethics Committee was likely going to release their findings and a deal was struck to keep it locked down if he stepped down. That and he heard from enough of the R senators saying they were not going to vote for him unless they got that report.

Dumber version Butthead is out of Congress and won't be the AG. Not a bad day.

Gaetz doesn't give a **** about whether he is or isn't qualified for AG. First, I am sure he feels he is completely qualified.

This is all because he wasn't going to have the votes - and he also didn't need to have McCarthy coming forward.

I know it is controversial - but some people don't want a guy surrounded by prostitutes and has had sex with a minor as the AG
