Reed is looking more confident lately. I think he continues to get 10 mins or so for a while. If he continues to play better he’ll get a few more minutes. Maybe by the end of the year he might get some minutes in big games. Still was hesitant a couple of times, but generally much more aggressive with the ball.
A more sensible perspective: If you want to win late in the season and in the playoffs, you develop Reed against NBA competition now.
Starting to show some life! Getting experience in nba games is much more valuable for him than going to the gleague. We already know when he can do when he dominates the ball like he did in summer league, he needs to get over the speed, size and being star struck in the nba.
Reed does not take shots he doesn't like. Ime is probably loving his play right now. Stark contrast from a couple of other players on the roster.
There were a couple of times when he drove into the crowded paint, he stopped and picked up his dribble. That's a no no. Should have popped a pull up middie which he is totally capable to hit.
I’ve noticed Reed often jumps to pass, which probably gives him better court vision. I’m concerned that’s a recipe for turnover problems long term.
Look at Amen’s boxscore from last season, it was the same way in the beginning. Reed needs to earn those minutes which will make him stronger, as opposed to being served up on a silver platter like certain members of the team who haven’t improved in 4 years.
He's a rookie only 16 games into the season. Long way to go. If Reed continues to progress, he'll earn more floor time. It's more important to gradually ramp his minutes early so he'll be fresher come March/April. He's never played the long 82 before.
Jalen also had a possession where he did his shake n bake dance and then a bad step back 3, all the while Reed was standing there with no defender close to him. I hope Ime also laid into him too.
Brandin Podziemski made almost exactly the same pass yesterday. Incredible such an unorthodox possession happened twice in 24 hours.
The awesome thing about Sheppard is that despite not shooting the ball well at all tonight he was still a net positive player. Him just being out there scares the hell out of opposing defenses creating a ton of space AND he had 5 STOCKS in only 16 minutes
i wonder why the folks btching about green inefficiency can't use this same logic. Shot poorly, net positive player, solid defense
