Stupidest term they have ever come up with. I think it was butt-chin that coined it. We have a great defense and it may be the best in the league when WA and Lassiter are back. OC is still a concern, but I feel Stroud will get his mojo back before the playoffs, especially if Nico stays healthy. This team is still a Super Bowl contender no matter how disappointing so far.

They might make it to the championship game, but I don't think they are SB contenders with their currently constructed offensive line. Their skill players are SB caliber (a bit weak in the TE room though), and their defense is definitely ready for the SB. However, they are starting to get healthier . The LB core is elite (Harris, Aziz and To'o,To'o) and both corners are very good. They're utilizing Pitre much better and he's have a great season as a result. DL is fearsome. Basically no glaring holes on defense (even the DT's are playing well which was a question mark going into the season). Defense is so very important in the playoffs. The best team in the league had a scratch and claw to get a win against us (and it took mistakes on CJ's part to make it happen). Still, I wouldn't favor us against the Ravens or Chiefs. Bills are also a very tough out (they are our best matchup). We're going to find out for certain what this team truly is in December when we play 3 games in 10 days (I'm deathly afraid of the injuries that are going to occur during that gauntlet).

What's funny is that gauntlet might not mean a ton for the Texans. It might actually be more important for us to come away fully healthy than actually winning against the Ravens or Chiefs. We could have the division basically wrapped up by then, and it's quite unlikely we're going to make any measurable headway against the Bills or Chiefs in terms of earning a first round bye.

There’s no team in the nfl that scares me. Every team is beatable. I’m not saying the Texans are going to win the superbowl, but they have just as good of chance of winning as the rest of the contenders.

The Chiefs are 9-1, but they have a mediocre offense and good defense just like the Texans.

Ravens defense sucks and they lose to everyone, including the browns and raiders.

    We already beat the bills.

I was not impressed by the Lions performance against the Texans last week. I don’t care that they lost, Texans were the better team. And Jared Goff is their qb. He’s an average qb that needs to be surrounded with great talent for him to succeed.

This is exactly how I feel. The NFL got exactly what it wanted…parity in abundance on tap. All of the teams are beatable. If the raiders can beat the Ravens, the Texans can too. Chiefs play close with everyone…a lucky break here or there and you win…wouldn’t take a miracle or anything close to beat the team that will be heavily favored to win the Super Bowl.

When the Oilers used to play back in the day you had loaded teams…the 93 Niners…the Bills of that era…the Cowboys. Games you thought, yeah I’m not sure if we can beat that team. There is no one in today’s NFL that MOST teams can’t beat. Even mediocre to less than mediocre teams can.

None of that is about how great the Texans are…it’s about the state of the NFL in 2024.

I agree that they can be, but the TURNING POINT must be now, and please no more critical injuries.

If Goff is an average QB then CJ is what?
Before the 5 pick game Goff was an MVP candidate.
    112 QB rating isn’t average.

Football and MVP is kinda weird. In basketball, you'll never see a good player like say Evan Mobley "play better" than Jokic for an extended time period. Yet in the nfl, you have goff putting up better numbers than Mahomes, who is objectively a top 2-3 qb ever. The system and your surrounding talent make such a massive difference. Think about if the texans this season didn't have those WR injuries and had a stud LG instead of the worst player in the nfl, we would likely be 10-1 at worst and CJ would be an mvp candidate. Goff is a decent starter but he'll never sniff top 10 qbs IMO

I like our chances in the post season, 50/50. Best you can ask for.
Now if we play the Jets again or the ExHouston Vikings, we have no shot.

There are 2 starters on the Vikings that are ex Texans. Greenard and Cashman. Yeah, the Vikings totally have Houston to thank for their success. Odd take.

Every other word out of my Irish wife's mouth is Feckin. With the occasional gobshite thrown in for good measure.

The only problem with the theory is that the Chiefs have been in 4 of the last 5 SuperBowls, and they are 9-1 this year. So it's kind of delusional to think they are beatable. They've proven they aren't.

Odd is that you're still here. It was a game that before the season started I gave them no chance at winning due to 'revenge at bats' from Greenard, Cashman, Shaquille (who had an 80 rtg as a Texan but still got cut. You wouldn't know anything about that) and Krueger-Hill fighting for the Easterby name. All of them were impactful and handed the other Defensive coordinators how to attack the O-line.

And the Jets game is a running gag about playing at MetDeath stadium.

    Hope that helps.

LOL. Well, I still say there only 2 ex Texan starters on the Vikings. I don't know about all inside jokes, true.

I don't care about the Jets game. My area of expertise is the NFC North. We own you. Kidding, well kind of.
