Given what we’ve seen from Reed so far do you still take him at 3 or do you take someone else like Clingan who definitely fills a position of need on this Rockets team?

This team can't shoot. That is a much bigger position of need.

Absolutely yes, he just needs playing time to get comfy...

The hardest role to play is that of microwave scorer, you come in and play 6 minutes and are expected to contribute in a positive manner, when you are still getting used to the action on the floor, that role is usually a veteran role.

Reed needs to be playing 20 mins a game, learning from his mistakes and keep playing through them....but he is getting much less than that......

IMHO, he should go to the GLeague for a spell.

Option C: We are 178 minutes into his NBA career. It's unreasonable to redraft at this point.

Obviously, no other player would put up with getting so few minutes. The fact that he's willing to do whatever the team needs without ego problems is one of the reasons he needed to be the pick.

I thought he was supposed to be quick enough to overcome his size but he looks kind of slow to me.

Maybe he puts it together in a few years like Nash but right now, he doesn't seem good enough.

That said, most of the rest of the draft class seems as poor as advertised by the Big Boarders.

He addresses a team need as much as anyone else. I think he needs more minutes and coaching before we know if he was the wrong choice or not. In the early going of the season, I do get perturbed when he takes any shots other than a 3. Set up behind the arc and let others operate down low.

I do not really care about this Draft Class......may the McCains and Knechts rule this.

Was never really reeled in......I was not even counting on Brooklyn getting the 3rd pick and handing it over.

As a good Rocket, I hope Reed succeeds but I am not holding my breath.

They should've won yesterday...maybe we wouldn't have this today.

i'm not really losing sleep over any other draft pick currently. this class was a crapshoot. Knect is significantly older than Sheppard, I'd hope he would look better from the jump.

Regardless of what you think of Reed, he needs to be in the G League because he's not going to get minutes on this team in the early season. Give him the Cam treatment where he plays in the G League in the first half of the season and ease him back into the rotation (if his play justifies it.)

At this point, no. But if Jared McCain and Sheppard both continue on their respective paths for half a season? I'd be tempted.

I had Castle #1 and Reed #2. I’d still take Reed given our shooting needs, and I think it’s crazy to doubt the Reed pick this early into the season.

Would take him again without a second thought, the only argument against it would be clingan but then you would need to trade sengun who is pretty solid himself.

Reed is small - he has the type of lower body to add strength in his thigs and legs, which will help him not be pushed around. His quick hands will help him defensively a lot, and he has good instincts. So I am not overly worried about his size on the defensive end. He will have match up issues - but he is not going to be Steve Nash on defense.

On offense - he is quick enough and can cut enough to get to the lane, where he utilizes as strong vertical and strong back of tricks to finish well. The issue is that the spacing for the Rockets is HORRENDOUS, the paint is packed and no one is really getting to the rim. Reed usually did not just stand at the top of the key and beat his man in college either. What he does is use movement, use screens and can cut around defenders moving to get to the basket very well. Chris Paul and Mark Price were like that.

The only real major concern I have with Reed is a question of volume. Will he take enough shots and have control of the ball enough to put up the 12-15 shots needed to justify 30 minutes a night.

I get people liking and Castle and Kling Kong and wondering if they are better picks - those same concerns were there before the draft. Castle has an awesome skill set defensively, and if he learns to shoot he is at least a near all star. Kling Kong is massive and active and should be hustle points, lots of rebounds and blocks.

I would possible take Castle in a redraft just because of his upside as a star - especially with it becoming painfully obvious that the Rockets do not have a franchise player on the roster....... all of those top 5 picks and not a single franchise player.... that should be the real discussion.
