The problem is that his midrange game is even lower percentage than shooting 3s.......that is the Irony. Floaters and those running hooks.....maybe. His finger rolls are not that bad.
This is what we need!!!! Great game from Jalen. When the 3 is not working quit forcing it. Some night he will go for 30-40 when he is on. On the nights he is not "on" we need efficient games like this.
His midrange percentages were much better in past seasons, if he can get it going again it will greatly help his game imo.
His defense in that first half was previous year's Jalen. Real bad. Lost and caught in no mans land numerous times. I really do like it when he penetrates to a few steps inside the 3 point line and raises for a midrange. I'd be much happier seeing him take 10 of those a game than seeing him take 5 threes a game.
This game is the blueprint. No it's not about going to the line only when your shot is not falling. That's the stupid reactive way he's been doing it. That's a recipe for having two types of mediocre games: - poor efficiency along with FT's ugly game or - high efficiency with low/no FT's which is a mediocre game. It's about going to the line 6+ times every night so that when your 3 is not falling, you still have an acceptable minimum standard of scoring. When your 3 is falling, you demolish the other team because you killed them from the field and the line. Defense + positive AST/to ratio + 6 FT's is the formula for consistency.
Mature game for JG. Big step in the right direction. On a B2B, it would be really nice If he put us on his shoulders for a little bit. Expecting big games from JG and Tari against Milwaukee.
I know the shooting percentages are not there yet, but I also like his balance on the mid-range jumpers. A couple of those Allen Iverson middies seem to get him in rhythm.
His is overdue for a big game. It would be great for him to do that tonight as long as he does not force it if he is not having a big game. That is the key to a successful Jalen Green. If he can play like he did last night when he is not firing on all cylinders then he does not hurt the team. When he is "on" then they should turn him loose and let him cook.
He's playing so much more composed and under control. He is not forcing anything. You love to see it.
Jalen desperately needs a go to move. Whether it's the middy, getting to the line, or attacking the rim. He just needs something that he can rely on for consistent points. Right now he's streaky because he doesn't have that one thing. Giannis can attack the rim at will, Curry has the threes, SGA is a mid-range king. What does Jalen have?
It's exactly what Bud developed for Giannis actually. You put 4 shooters around him, force a favorable switch and get the F out of the way as he goes one constant crazy speed past his man with no rim protector to worry about because all 4 other players can shoot. If they even think of doubling, just pass it to whichever player they're doubling off. You can't stop Green from getting past his man if he goes full speed. The problem is if we are playing a slow half court game there's always multiple players to beat after he beats his man. So in that situation he can't go full speed, he has to learn to accelerate, decelerate, euro step, all that ish. At least with the second unit there's great pace so you can attack defenders who are backtracking rather than defenders that are organized and set. If we need pace and space: Landale Jabari Tari Green FVV Last season the PnR with Amen as the C and 3 shooters around them was also deadly.
This team needs Jalen's explosive power, dynamism and scoring.. He is an important part of our team. When will He become consistent? Hope and see..
After a very promising first 5 games of the season, Jalen has returned to the player he was the first 3 seasons, at least on offense....only a bit worse. He currently has career lows in 3 PT% and TS%....that's just not going to cut it.
