The right wing posters in this board cannot grasp concept of a slow creep of bigotry and propaganda eventually resulted in Nazis. Maybe it's a failure of Hollywood or a failure of our public school system but our country when discussing Nazis portray Nazis as cartoonish mustache twirlers, mad scientists etc which completely eliminates the concept of "banality of evil". So many dudes here if they were zapped back into the 1920s in Germany and talked to some random white businesses owners, they would have no clue that some of those same dudes in 10 years will be some officer at some concentration camp. There is no inherent evil within the German state that created Nazism. There is nothing unique about America that makes us impervious to fascism. For goodness sakes a large part of our historical discourse is a large chunk of the country trying to dismiss things like slavery and Native genocide. People get offended when people say America was built as a racist country... A country that specifically designated one specific race to be slaves you breed and pass down when it was founded.. people get offended by that. Why? Because people have bought into a lot of the mythology aspect of the nation which is a very common aspect of fascism... The mythic origin stories of countries that have zero self reflection, zero self criticism, just abject propaganda. Another common aspect with the rise of Nazism and the rise of MAGA... Both movements accelerated due in large part with many men in both instances feeling demasulated and losing identity and purpose. For different reasons though obviously. For Germans it was the loss of WW1, giving up land, feeling like "cucks" basically to the rest of Europe. With MAGA, it's a bit more pathetic because it isn't a bunch of hardened trench warfare ptsd'd out veterans feeling a loss of masculinity and identity. It's more due to the Internet, social media, gaming etc making most forms of modern entertainment isolated where now we have this pandemic of young men who just don't interact with their local community anymore and replaced it with their online communities. In both instances they blame leftists, Jews, migrants etc.
