Shooting worse than last year now. I think the worst thing for him was his 3 catching fire early in the season. Now he think he is Curry reincarnate. A guy who is a career 34% shooter from 3 should be jacking as many 3's as he does right now.
problem is... if he attacks the basket, he isn't really looking to pass, and then more often than not gets his ass blocked or runs into a wall leading to a turnover. his awareness is still near zero, sadly
I don't blame him usually. Coach keeps calling those good shots. It's so dumb. If Green attacks the paint more aggressively, now he's upset the coach. Wtf. He's not a shooter. Jalen's step back 3 is there for him pretty much any time he wants. I feel like anytime I see him take it other than it late shot clock situations, it is taking the easy way out.
We just need to have average space and pace around him. Since time immemorial coaches have understood you surround your non-shooter stars with shooters. I was really nervous that his hot 3PT shooting would distract from the fact that he's NOT a shooter. The only thing he can handle there is open shots when they dare him. 5 per game maximin. He's taking 5 every 20 minutes that's ridiculous. Udoka is creating a situation where only a catch and shoot player can fit in the 4 starting positions around Sengun. Not venting at you, just incredibly furious with Green and Udoka for this stupid situation. It's just stubbornness. Yes if you play slow, Sengun/Brooks/FVV will thrive. Honestly I hope they start Amen soon at the 3 so that they see how it will jam his game. Good news is we won and that matters most. Goozfraba.
Im not gonna go off on how bad of a stat it is in small numbers. im just gonna say it shouldnt be looked at serious for one game its more of a stat for an entire season.
How did you come to that conclusion? Amen and Tari seem to fit just fine with the starters. I bet any top 5 SG would feast on JG’s looks. Anthony Edwards, my god. Kareem played on one of the fastest teams to ever play. Denver and Sacramento play slow with Jokic and Sabonis? Let’s maybe think some more about this before we start shirking accountability for JG.
yeah, so on the year Jalen’s 3pt attempts are career high at 8.8 per game and his FT rate is career low of 0.218… I don’t like this. He needs to put pressure on the basket.
I’m hoping if Bari and FVV start shooting better, he’ll feel less pressure to jack 3s and the lane will be more open.
more tidbits. in the Silas era Jalen’s defense was absolutely atrocious, but his year 2 is still the best offensive year in his career: best ORtg, best Off WS, Best Off BPM you know what stands out in his year 2? Highest FTr at 0.341 and lowest 3P Att rt at 0.408 Data is pretty clear: the guy needs to attack the basket and use the 3pt only as a safety valve.
