Okay so observation then? Is the "over the top" self evident or something? Is it a statement that is saying something is wrong with the way I describe things? I just need a little nuance here to understand where you are coming from.
I will try to say something without it being political. I grew up during the AIDS epidemic if that is the correct term. I remember the amount of vitriol and fear homosexuality as a whole received during that period. Now it's pretty accepted except by all except uber Bible thumpers. Things need to happen organically and it takes time. I suspect most people will accept or do accept those who made the choice to transition. I think the line in the sand is trans men playing against biological women. The Optics are that of a a 9th grader playing basketball against a 6th grader. Feel free to disagree
You know what isn't organic? The right wing media ecosystem that spammed this issue. What's more organic than individual private sports leagues making their own decisions and guidelines and medical health professionals being the gatekeepers in approving or not approving of treatments based on their expertise? No is forcing this on you besides the right wing media. At the end of the he day I ask you this one question to prove my point. Who discusses trans issues more? A trans person or someone who consumes right wing media through social media feeds and influencers?
Here let me try it this way. You owned a company. Let's say you ****ed a customer over. You really didn't, but that is their belief. Now you step aside. Your replacement says "Hey give our company a chance we are going to do this, this, and this" The customer is going to tell you to get ****ed. Unless you can show them that they weren't really ****ed over due to any fault of your company.
Do town halls with blue collar workers in poor areas where majority of the population is paying rent and don't own property. Let someone from that crowd ask about trans women in women's sports . Ask them if for the past 8 years their rent payments go up after every lease renewal. Ask them if they heard about "Yeildstar" and "Realpage". They will most likely answer "no". Then ask them why the media personalities you trust and social media accounts you trust to disseminate you information about the world around you have made you memorize every trans swimmer in a women's swim meets in world history and haven't once mentioned how corporations are creating software algorithms to price fix rent inflating your monthly rent payments every single year you renew your lease. Asked them that. Prove to them the people they listen to are charlatans who don't care about your actually issues.
I'm not sure how to be more clear, but I'll try. Making the analogy to Nazi Germany is hyperbolic and distracts from your messaging. You can find something more apt, I'm sure. And comparing situations with the Holocaust, that are not in fact close to the Holocaust, does a disservice to the millions who died.
In 1920s Germany there was a Holocaust? When Jews say "never again" you understand they aren't just talking about the end state effect of the targeted bigotry towards them that preceded for centuries which is the Holocaust. They are also referring to the decades of bigoted RHETORIC before the mass violence that led to mass violence. No it doesn't dismiss my argument. If I found a less viseral example you still wouldn't buy the premise because I suspect you fundamentally disagree with my premise of how bigotry spreads. Just understand no German in 1920s Germany even those with fascist leanings thought they were going to exterminate millions of Jews in a decade. We don't go from 0 to 100 real quick like that. That's not how the world works. That's not how humans function. Bigotry seeps in. It stews and eventually taints and destroys For example we are at a level of bigotry towards the Muslim/Arab population to the point that we as westerners actual police the range of Arabic words that are deemed "allowed". We have removed the ability for Arabs to express a term like "resistance" in their native tongue without being perceived as terrorists. Where do you think this will eventually lead to?
You acknowledge that you were referring to the situation in the 20s that preceded the Holocaust. That's what I was referring to in my initial comment. I think, from your example, that you think all bigotry (or whatever you define as bigotry) spreads like anti-Semitism in 1920s Germany and results in genocide. If that's your belief, then I guess I do disagree. A few hours ago in this thread, glynch made a casually anti-Semitic comment. Lots of casual bigotry out there. We're trending better as a society, but it's far from being eradicated.
Yes bigotry spreads like anti-semtisim because anti-semtisim is a form of bigotry. Good luck arguing against this: When a small group of people based om some trait like ethnicity or sexuality exist in small numbers relative to gen population where the vast majority of the general public hardly have any personal real life interactions with these groups and the only point of reference to these groups is your social media feeds saying this group is causing problems in some way, then that population will absorb the national zeitgeist of the conversation of these groups as the only way they learn about them which means the only interaction here have is negative stories. That's how bigotry spreads. If you disagree with that please explain l. I'd love any explanation of you for the time.
Another question for you. When a Holocaust survivor says we need to take lessons from the Holocaust and the rise of the Nazi regime what do they mean? What lessons are they referring to?
Inflation went up cuz of covid bottlenecks? What in the world do you want her to say? Youre making up reasons to be upset about which don't exist. You can keep living in his fantasy bubble that people voted for trump cuz of "economic anxiety" when all imperial data shows swing voters swung towards trump cuz of trans/border issues.
You are 100000% right which is exactly where the American public is. Americans as a whole are open to trans folks but they're not okay with trans women playing with biological women. @fchowd0311 keeps making this straw man argument that once you disallow trans women from playing with biological women then magically you have to throw all trans people under the bus. This simply isn't true . You can moderate on trans issues without going full nazi. The issue is Harris didn't moderate on the issue and allowed the disinformation to control the campaign which buried her
Once you center a campaign around trans people doing bad things is how bigotry spreads There is little the Democrats can do about the actual concept of transgender women in women's sports because most sports league the government does not have agency over. It's a fake issue. Let's be all libertarian about this and allow individual leagues to determine this ****. And let's not throw trans people under the bus and concentrate a campaign on of them doing bad things so that majority of the population who have zero interaction with trans people in real life will only hear about trans people through lens of the national zeitgeist saying trans people are raiding women's sports.
As much as anyone hates to admit it. The Repubs out coached the Dems on this issue. This issue may be miniscule in terms of the population percentage. But the Optics are far larger than the actual issue. PS. Chowder needs his own thread. It should be called Chowder is right and you are wrong, change my mind. Chowder himself would have 8 pages a day even potentially arguing with himself
I understand at a certain point people run out of talking points and refer to the good ol "get a life" shtick. I get it bro. You run out of talking points. You get frustrated because you feel emasculated from the fact you ran out of them hurting your pride and now it's time to compare personal lives. That's okay though. You can attach your resume so we can review. Record your pull up count and measure your dick size, give your count if how many women you've ****ed etc. if the actual conversation is over and all you got is "you post too much".
The lesson you learned from the Holocaust seems to be that it's a convenient talking point for whatever you want to advocate. Anyone who disagrees with you is a Nazi. That's what you put out there. People discussing whether trans women should be playing in women's sports is not Holocaust level bigotry. You have one position on the topic, and that's fine. But come down off your high, high horse.
Thank you man you totally get it! Lefties can't grasp the importance of the issue. They keep claiming you can just skip the issue and somehow it'll solve itself but Harris literally just did that and it backfired big time. Not wanting trans women to play with biological women doesn't make you a bigot. We need to stop being so crazy
I have more important things to do tonight other than go back and forth with you. Our pizza and wings are here, and my son is in town this weekend. Time for some British Baking show, followed up by some boxing. You take care my friend.
