kinda wish he would go to the g-league to get burn but hes doing enough to keep in the rotation. I'm guessing Ime likes that Reed is looking to facilitate rather than Holiday who will always try to get his shots up.
It was one he absolutely should make every time and two heaves. I don't think tonight should really sway anyone's hopes.
Rockets should send Sheppard down to the gleague so he can gain back some confidence in his shooting. Call back Whitmore if they haven't already.
Oh I agree, and I believe the TEAM would be better if Cam were playing instead of Jalen......I think Cam has much higher upside and is stronger and a way better defender....I would be moving Jalen on...ASAP. DD
When is our rookie gonna make some noise. When is he going to be tough. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to settle for the softer side of things.
Meh Reed is on one of the deepest rosters in the league, and on a team with no spacing. He has played a total of like 110 minutes in the NBA so far. I am not worried - I haven't seen anything about his game that raises red flags. He can be pushed around some on defense, but I expected that at his age and size - and that will improve some with age and strength. McCain has played well the last 3-4 games for the Sixers and he is a pretty good prospect, but the Sixers are losing when he plays.... Clingan has been productive when he has played for the Blazers, but he is a situational player.
He has played well enough to deserve more minutes - but the Rockets are deep, trying to win and Reed will have to take minutes from veteran players.
Reed is in his rightful place as the 9th man in our 9 man rotation. Ideally, his minutes creep up closer to 15 and FVV's down to 30. But I'm not going to get too bogged down in that. We can take our time with his development, and that's a good thing.
Agree! I’m glad we are not in a place where he has to score 15 points in 20 mins to get a win. He is getting used to the nba and doesn’t look out of place. I think after all star break he will hit 2 threes a game.
I'm afraid it would take an injury to both Fred and Amen for that to happen, because otherwise he a) won't get the minutes and b) will defer too much.
I never said its supposed to sway anybody's hopes. I never said Sheppard can't improve in the future. However future and present are different its kinda ridiculous people act like 2/2/2 and 0% from 3 is supposed to be great performance for a top 3 pick.
Yeah he played well when FVV sat out. But then again our coach still gave most of his minutes to Aaron Holiday. I think he needs more time like after ASB. Personally I would have him play both regular season and GLeague so he gets his reps.
He's steady with the ball handling for the most part and seems oddly mature for his age. Just needs that shot to drop.
Sheppard is also a lot better on defense than Holiday. He has more active hands and higher bball IQ. I dont mind Sheppard getting burn as long as the game isnt on the line. Udoka should continue to invest in him so he gets ready to player sooner rather than later. Sheppard plays so little I wonder if dual playing in both GLeague and the normal games would be better for him.
He has good ball-handling skills but two major weaknesses. He didn't seem to be able to set or play defense during the summer league the other teams targeted him and scored at will. Two the NBA game appears to be too fast for him he can disappear for good stretches of the game In summary, I don't see him becoming an NBA All-star. At best a solid bench player at worst a complete bust and out of the league in three years.
