There were not fine people on both sides. Yes, there were very fine people there to protest the neo-Nazis and white supremacists. People get separated from their families for civil violations (the penalty for not being here with paperwork)? So people get separated from their families because of traffic violations that amount to civil offenses? People get separated from their families for misdemeanor trespassing charges which is the charge given to people who cross illegally?

Entering or staying in the country illegally is a criminal offense whose proper redress is removal. That, by necessity, requires a remit into custody and the separation of a person from any other persons who are in the country legally. Every country in the world has and enforces immigration laws including separating persons and deporting them. Only far-left psychos consider this wrong. If you don't want to be separated from your family and deported, don't come to the United States illegally or don't over stay your visa in violation of federal law.
