The first thing I imagined on all this was a phone call from Abbott to Trump: "You know you're going to wreck my state's economy if you follow through on all these deportation plans? Construction, service industry.....I mean, it'd be awful for my state. I have Texas business owners sweating bullets right now."
I'm somewhere caught in the middle on this. I grew up in Texas and all of my interactions through work and such have been mostly positive. Not to demean anyone but they did do the jobs no one else wanted to. were they fairly compensated? NO, but even at below minimum wage they were and maybe now still better off here. Not defending bad wages, but if the wage was higher for some of the menial jobs, I suspect Johny Hayseed from Woodville would jump on that job. And that would be another conversation I'm all for enriching a country with folks from other countries, but when the numbers get around 11 million that stresses housing, job potential, and schools. I'm not mad at folks for wanting a better life, but can we absorb 10 million people period regardless of ethnicity? My wife's mother waited 5 years and had to have a job lined up and a sponsor in the US to come to America legally. Now if Ireland was geographically where Mexico is I suspect that would not have been her path. Before the Irish Tiger happened, Irish folks were boating to the UK to get a chance at working, even though many had deep seeded anger toward England. If you would have ever said to my mother-in-law that she was right off the boat, she would give you an earful, and let you know she came in on a 747. God rest her soul. Hope this makes some kind of sense.
No, its not punishment... When you enter a country illegally you should be aware that your time there could end at any point..... If you sneak into the movies and get caught do you tell security its punishment to not let you finish the movie? How about a buffet? Or Disney? The rules should be, if you get in you stay? This is were your empathy and morality collides with reality, realistically it is unfair for those here who work hard and pay taxes to have illegal immigrants taking advantage of what Americans work so hard for. No empathy for Americans right? Millions of immigrants pour into the country due to a bad president and what do we do about it? They can stay? What about the people who are still struggling in Mexico or El Salvador? Do we let everyone in? Yall do know many of those illegal immigrants left children, wifes, husbands, parents behind to come to America? They did not have a problem then so why is it a problem splitting families now? Your morality does not work because its greatly flawed and greatly selected.... I have family in the U.S that were here during Reagan and never got citizenship. Actually I think my parents were the only ones... I am for more programs and easier paths for immigrants... In fact, under normal circumstances I am for more programs and easier ways illegal immigrants can stay... But right now, we have to stop the bleeding before we help people out...
He campaigned on a border crisis, why the hell would he go after anyone other than those crossing the border? The people saw who let them in and votes incompetence out. Now its time to fix the border issue, this is what people voted for. This is what the people wanted. Trump had nothing to run on if Biden and Kamala would have just simply kept things afloat but they *cked everything.... If you feel bad for those getting deported blame Kamala, she brought them in....
not seeing where he said "neo nazis and white supremicists {are} 'very fine people' ": you can even do a word/phrase search in that transcript for "neo nazis and white supremicists are 'very fine people' " and you don't come up with anything. so again, when you can find the transcript of that statement ("neo nazis and white supremicists are 'very fine people' ") I, and I am sure others, would love to see it
theres also the part where he says the white nationalists and neo-nazis were "very fine people". if you attend a rally organized by white supremacists where neo-nazis, white nationalists and KKK members are featured speakers and you go around chanting racist and anti-semitic slogans you are not a "very fine person" as trump said they were. there were no good people there...this was a straight up white supremacist rally.
The white nationalist MAGA's who pretend like they're not like to take little *breaks* when the white supremacism gets too overt, then resurface in order to *paper* over the cracks. You'll see this happening a lot in the next year. Also lots of overt hatred & racist intimidation.
he said there were "very fine people" on both sides and one side was neo-nazis and white supremacists and KKK. why are yall having such a difficult time with this?
I will spell it out once and then leave you alone with your thoughts. He said there were "very fine people" on both sides of the Robert E. Lee statue protest: one side advocated preserving the Robert E. Lee statue, and the other side advocated taking the Robert E. Lee statue down. His comments refer to his belief that there were "very fine people" on both sides of the Robert E. Lee protest.
Are you kidding? The people aren't crossing the border if there aren't jobs here for them. It's pretty much that simple.
I expect more minority harrassment I expect less consequences for the harrassment Expect more police aggression in minority communitys since they will be able to PURGE whenever they feel like it Rocket River
Trump is a RICH WHITE Supremist. . . . he don't give a d*mn about the Poors . . .. Black White or whatever Trump is about MOnetary status first second and always . .. . race may come in later. . .esp if it is useful Rocket River
I agree that fore the undocumented workers, it may be an improvement over where they were before. I mean they had to be willing to move themselves and their families face, dangers, hardships, in the hopes that they could come here and find work, and a better future for themselves and if not for their children. They made that choice, and chose to do it illegally. That being said, our economy moves in part because of it. They keep prices down, wages down, spend money into our economy. Many pay taxes that they will never file for a refund. They pay sales taxes, purchase goods and products. In addition to the cost of deporting them all, subtracting those things from our economy would be a huge hit on the economy. As a nation we need to find a way to proceed without the undocumented labor. That would be something real to help fix the issue. It would have be a long term solution done in increments, and there would be some growing pains. One positive thing is that government would find a way to streamline the visa process, and path to citizenship to make it happen faster and possibly at less of a cost.
Did I say he won the black vote? Did I say 21% of black males is the majority? The minority votes for Trump are increasing by a lot. You know this.
Buddy the only thing illegal immigrants do to you is make your 1lb frozen pack of chicken tendies 8 dollars instead of 16. The only bleeding that is happening is the exploitation of poor people from the global south being paid under minimum wage for back breaking labor intensive work.
Yes the side that wanted to keep the Robert e Lee statue and joined a organized protest that was organized by a self labeled white nationalist group were all white nationalist sympathizers at the very least. Every individual who went there to support their hero Robert E Lee.
You need to read what he said again. This time without trying to mince his words. He condemns white nationalists and neo-nazi’s “totally” You want him to be a white supremacist. That doesn’t make him in one.
