Ime won't do it, and we know Ime's personality - He'd rather trying not to get outcoached than bulldoze the way into victories. It has to start with the players.
I think we need to calm down with the “Ime hates Sengun” hysterics. I think it’s very likely Sengun was dealing with a lingering back issue early in the season and Ime is being careful with him.
Ime doesn't hate him, I don't think so. But either Stone or Ime for some reason haven't fully committed to him being the alpha dog either. I think that's what's needed for the Rockets to take the next step.
Of course, Ime doesn't hate Alpi. Ime is obsessed with winning. Emotions like ''hate'' don't help with that. He's too professional to suggest otherwise. We know consolidation trades will happen eventually. Could the idea of an equal opportunity offense be related to increasing the value of our potential trade-bait pieces?
I'd just like to point out that Sengun is leading the team in usage among rotation players since Sengun started playing well again. While Ime is slow on making changes to the starting lineup like a lot of coaches, Sengun not getting the ball has been about two factors primarily in my opinion...one whether Sengun is playing well, and two the difficulty to get Sengun the ball in good position some times (i.e., the fewer shooters on the court, the harder it is to get space for Sengun). Last night, the only thing limiting Sengun was the Rockets getting him the ball in good spots. Even in bad spots, Senguin did fine. I don't think the Rockets personnel is a good fit for Sengun. I think the front office drafted a bunch of players with the intention that whoever was good/great would rise to the top and then they would figure out fit then.
I thought it was impressive live, watching the replay Thompson has absurd open court speed. Eventually something is gonna have to be done about the teams offense in regards to shooting, but his physical toolbox is crazy.
I’m down to offer picks too. Cade would fit so well with Senguin, Tari, Amen, and Shepp. Detroits made some profoundly stupid moves over the past 10 to 15 years, so there is precedent. Plus, Cade would likely welcome the change.
Cade is too slow and methodical to match our personnel. He is just a young taller FVV. This team has been built for speed and going downhill from one side of the court to the other. Anyone we trade for needs to fit that mold and if Ime can’t overcome his innate conservative coaching philosophy he needs to go as well. It’s kind of like when Magic forced the Lakers to get rid of Westphall and replace him with Riley. Riley immediately came in an unleashed the beasts and showtime was created. Kaos should be king in Houston.
I've been on the Tari bandwagon for a long time. I would love to see us trade Brooks to give Tari & Amen more minutes. Poor Cam Whitmore can't even see the light of day right now.
Brooks has the best on off stats on the team at the moment. I have no idea why anyone would want to trade him.
He does, but I don't think its because of him. In 72 games last year we where better with him off the court. He's a bad offensive player and I think overrated defensive player.
Yes, how could team based stat across only 11 games be not because of one person? I remember when fchowd was spewing the same garbage this time last year about why Jalen Green was so good. Then watched as that number die off and end up being negative by the end of the season.
If FVV was 6'7 and young.....no one would ever score on the Rockets with 6'7 FVV, Amen, Brooks, and Tari on the court. FVV with longer arms would be so much fun on defense. FVV would be able to get his shot off in traffic and get a lot of poorly contested threes. Yep. I am for playing Amen and Tari more minutes. No reason to trade Brooks until he's not one of the best 6 or 7 players on the team. Correct, the Rockets were better with him off the court. The Rockets were even better with JSJ off the court. Rockets weren't bad with Brooks on the court and JSJ off the court. Amen and Tari are likely better than Brooks, and defintely the Rockets 2nd units did better than other teams second units last season and expect this trend to re-emerge going forward. Should the Rockets bench Sengun because the Rockets played better without last season? No, the Rockets bench was just really good versus other benches morso than the Rockets starters versus other starters (Not the starting units, but when less than 5 starters were on the court). Brooks is better than Jabari. Until Jabari is showing that the Rockets can perform better with him than Brooks, the Rockets should not trade Brooks. Heck, even if Jabari is viewed better than Brooks, Brooks should still be getting 15-20 mpg. I don't understand the let's trade this player that is giving the Rockets positive value (even if he's not in the Top 5 best players on the team) when his contract doesn't restrict the Rockets, but probably makes him a net neutral trade asset or negative trade asset while a significant portion of the league is having 1st or 2nd apron issues. Next season when the cap goes up, it will be easier to trade Brooks and he might actually have some surplus value over his contract.
What? Green fell off last season? Did we watch the same season? And yes, Green was good last season, and he’s been good this season. I swear, people are too stuck in their preconceived biases.
I agree with this. In the past, if his shots weren't falling he was practically worthless because he didn't play defense, he didn't rebound and he didn't pass the ball. He's been a net positive most games even when the shot isn't falling this year because he's doing all of those things. It's wild to me that there are some people around here who are unhappy with Udoka. The transformation we've seen of damn near every player on the roster has been nuts. Jabari and Cam are the only guys I'm starting to have concerns with, and I think those concerns are somewhat irrational being how young both of those guys are. But man, it's so frustrating to watch Jabari shoot this poorly when he's supposed to be an elite shooter. If he were shooting 40% from 3 it would add a whole different dimension to this team.
He did from a =/- standpoint. It isn't bias, but rather fact. The hilarious thing is Dillon Brooks has the best, and I'd assume Jabari has the worst, despite the fact that Jabaris has only been on the court for 20:14 without Brooks.
