The Wizards are trash & you ppl forget how bad Sengun was against a actual good team OKC. So by your logic, this shouldn't count because it's bottom level competition Side note: Jalen was still a +13. How bad was that? All year? Dude he got BENCHED twice already this year for defensive purposes by Ime. How delusional are you my friend
Are you trying to claim Sengun hasn’t been good on defense? Amongst players who have played 10+ games, Sengun has posted the third best defensive rating after Chet and D. Brooks.
Rocketchamp has some weird vendetta against Sengun and his fans because of his stance toward Jalen. Just know that before you argue with him. He’s always been anti-Sengun and will continue to move the goal posts to keep that stance.
I watched the games. I do not recall the Spurs helping Wemby against Sengun. I watched the missed shots in case I was mistaken. I went through the made shots, assists, and turnovers now just to give you the benefit of the doubt again that my memory was failing. I saw three times that the Spurs helped on PnR when Wemby helped on the ball more than he could and recover on Sengun. Lots of assists with Sengun being guarded one on one by Wemby with no hint of a double or that SA had any fear of Sengun taking Wemby one on one (edit: Watching Sengun's assist with Wemby on him were weird. One just doesn't see Sengun with the ball and not getting pressured much so it was weird watching the Spurs basically in prevent defense to steal an NFL term.) I may have missed one or two plays, but I find it odd that I could not find one anything in which Sengun had Wemby on him and the Spurs had to help other than 3 PnRs (which aren't one on one plays). I don't expect the Spurs to let Sengun get the ball, but once he had it..the overwhelming video evidence is that the Spurs did not care if Sengun wanted to go one on one with Wemby.
Lol he got benched cuz coach is singling him out. He wasn't even bad defensively in those games if you look at it. He played 8 minutes in the first half versus golden state and we were down by 30. Defense wasn't any better with him on the bench. He actually played really well in the 3rd quarter to start the comeback and Ime was too stupid to put him back in so we lost. Your argument might be valid if we actually won any of the games he got benched but we lost every one of them. Maybe this benching thing doesn't work. I honestly feel like if sengun plays without Jalen our defense is significantly better and all the metric say so. Problem when he goes to the bench is Jalen is suppose to be an offensive force yet we go on 5-10 minute droughts of not scoring a single point. Why does it matter how good or bad our defense is. If you score 0 points you can't win. Okc game was more about foul trouble. You said he played bad I don't even necessarily agree with that. He started game well, then after picking up 3rd foul he was much less aggressive on defense. He was swarmed by 3 defenders all day every time he touched the ball and no one could make a shot to open up the offense so he had to force shots up. He still had 11/9/6. Probably woulda had a triple double if he had any other teammates. Our defense naturally gets better with Tari and Amen. You can replace anyone in the starting lineup with those two and we are better. Honestly we need sengun for rebounding cuz we suck at it when he's out. The key difference between them is when sengun isn't making shots he making the right play. Whether it's passing to open man or crashing boards. When Jalen isn't make shots he still forces bad shots. He has some of the worst bball IQ I've ever seen. He's looking more and more like Gerald Green is his ceiling.

This video shows them and you can see plenty of times one on one he’s gotten blocked. He’s been blocked 17 times in 11 games this season, 75 times in 63 games last season. Small sample size yes, but there’s a trend of him being better defended. He needs to develop a reliable shot, period.
Dude these silly metrics don't work. If he was good why is he getting benched so early in the season? The coach's see the same metrics we see lol
The whole team was trash on defense. Why is sengun only one getting benched? Why did we get down by 30 if it was his fault? We gave up 71 points to warriors in the first half. Once again he played 8 minutes so how could it possible be his fault that our defense was atrocious. Fact of the matter is this team will never be good as long as Jalen is the focal point of the offense. He's way too inefficient and just isn't a good player. The faster we realize this the better we will be. One day maybe you will realize this too. He's our main issue and not the solution. far too many times he just doesn't make the right read or make the quick swing pass. He's a ball stopper and likes to dribble into the worst shots ever. It's one thing if he was Harden and could actually make them, it's another to just keep firing up bricks at his rate. His ISO percentage is laughable.
Why does the coach play fvv 40 plus minutes a night when he's shooting 1/17? Do you really think this coach has a clue what he's doing?why is Tari still coming off the bench? Even when Sengun is playing well he's getting benched for long periods of time. I can't explain it. Like yesterday let's just put sengun on the bench so we can lose our 17 point lead.
Sengun's early struggling against Wemby and Chet are predictable as he's in the process of changing his games. Instead of bulldozing into the paint, he's trying to utilize his ball-handling skills and finness to do so. It benefits him in the long run and he has a higher chance to avoid major injuries. It takes time to completely revamp his games. I want him to demand the ball more, that's my only complain about him.
Are you even trying to watch. Just watch this video in the first 2 minutes the two times he got the ball in the post. As soon as he makes a move 2 guys dig in to force him to go one direction making it easier for Wemby to block him. He's been getting delayed doubled all season.
Also he had not played a professional game for some time and coming back from an injury and apparently had back pain. He just needed time to get into rhythm.
Obviously better to never get blocked, but Brandon Ingram has gotten blocked 16 times, Jalen Green has gotten blocked 15 times. Jokic and Harden 12 times. Lebron 10 times. Alpi is one of the top 3 players double-teamed in the NBA (the other two are Jokic and Giannis). Alpi played Wemby twice and Chet = 3 of the first 11 games against the two top shot blockers in the NBA. A few of the blocks on Alpi were fouls or goaltends. Two looked like steals, not blocks. A few were just chaotic situations were everyone was jumping up and fighting for the offensive rebound, and somehow he got a hand on it and then someone else did, too. A few of them, he/we got the ball back and we scored anyway. Not worried. Also, is this yet another alt account? This "Wizman" account has 78 posts or something and I would say about 70 of them are dedicated to hating on Sengun.
Look, I want nothing more than for Sengun to be a league MVP candidate. But your take is an example of you looking for something that isn’t there. What you called a “dig” on that first possession was barely anything and is seen pretty much any time someone makes a move in the post. Nor did it impact Sengun’s drive at all; he simply couldn’t get the ball over Wembenyama. . I’m a Turkish-American Wizards fan living in the DC area who has league pass so I can watch Sengun because I really want him to do well. So there’s no “hate” on my part. But I call things like I see them. Jokic is taking 5 more shots per game and gets more defensive attention than Sengun. So saying he has been blocked 12 times is really not supporting your argument. His interior shooting percentage is significantly higher than Sengun’s, which tells me Alpi is likely adjusting his shots because of the frequent blocks. Jalen Green getting blocked is a completely different issue. It’s not the initial defender doing it, it’s when he gets into the paint against much larger men. He needs to develop an outside jumper, otherwise his offensive stats will go down this season. There’s no hate in that statement, and the sooner he stops listening to people who say he’s a generational talent and realizes what he needs to do to truly become someone who can be a franchise player and lead a team to the promised land, the better.
Odd statement for the starting C of a top NBA defense who is snagging nearly 12 rebounds a game. Screening his ass off for teammates. Boxing out EVERYONE. Taking charges. Always making his teammates better with a 2/1 A2T as a C. Alperen Sengun does not have a selfish bone in his body, and he works his ass off. Foundational player who takes personal accountability.
