You guys dont even get the right kind of KitKat. KitKat in the US is made by Hersheys. In other countries, KitKat is made by Nestle. The Nestle varieties taste much better. Come up here to Canada and have the KitKat here. It's on a completely different level. Same with Swiss chocolates like Lindt. We get ours imported from Europe while the stuff you get in the US is just made by locally in the US (usually by a company like Hersheys).
You used to be able to buy a 62 oz tub of peanut m&m's from Sam's Club for an every day price of $12-$13 just a year or two ago. I think it's up to around $16-$17 now. They have them going for $3 off right now ... 62oz for $13.48. Just thought I'd share.
I'll be damned if I'm going to Canada in the middle of winter to have a KitKat. I'll just overpay on Amazon like everybody else. Actually, I don't eat the stuff anymore, but I've tried the whacky varieties from Japan in the past and those were... interesting. lol.
People outside the US think Hershey's tastes like vomit, because part of Hersey's process for the milk creates butyric acid, which is a component of vomit. People who are from the US and are used to Hershey's seem to not notice. Edit:
For some reasons Hershey's have been big in Chinese cities. The Swiss and Belgian control the Euro market so I guess there is no way around those.
yalls know why toblerones are so spensive? parents got those giant ones the size of bbc for like $50 at the airport once. i mean it was good, but hardly worth more than $5 imo. same goes with ferarri rochers.
The original is a candy bar cleverly called “Can’t Get Knafeh of It” from Dubai-based Fix Dessert Chocolatier (Fix stands for “freakin’ incredible ‘xperience”). The bar features crispy kataifi, pistachio and tahini paste, all wrapped up in a casing of milk chocolate. Individual bars cost 68.25 UAD (United Arab Emirates Dirham; around $18.50) and a box of six costs 385.50 UAD (around $105), a Fix representative tells TODAY.com via Instagram direct message. https://www.today.com/food/trends/viral-dubai-chocolate-bar-rcna169625
Toblerone is still only made in Switzerland so they become expensive due to American sugar tariffs. The whole reason why Hersheys and other US confectionary companies make chocolate locally for foreign companies is because of American protectionism around sugar. That's why companies like Godiva and Lindt make their chocolate locally in the US. Toblerone is one of the few exceptions in that their US subsidiary that imports the chocolate chose to just pay the tariffs and mark up their prices as a result.
Not only do they increase the price to the consumer but you ended up with crappier domestic chocolate as a result.
