No. Stop. I can ignore the relentless, somewhat delusional, comps to a multiple time MVP who himself didn't break out until several years in the league.

But Reed Sheppard, if he isn't the best shooter in the draft, does not get drafted in the top 5 and most likely not in the lottery.

-Alpi and JG are your cornerstones, and neither is a good 3p shooter. You need spacing so you draft shooting.
-"Everything else" Reed does would be phenomenal if he were a 6'9" wing. He's not.
-You don't draft 6'1" guards in the NBA for anything except incredible shot-making or incredible play-making. Reed is not the latter. I hope he will be but it's clear why the Rockets drafted him.
-6'1" guys are not jack of all trades or defensive stoppers that get time to work on their offense. That's Tari Eason.

Steph Curry/Steve Nash as comps is almost the same subterfuge to constructive Reed discussion as the people who say he's already a bust. Both takes are whack. Reed's recent comp is Trae Young with far better defensive prowess and far worse playmaking, and better shooting. That's realistic. And it would be a successful pick if Reed establishes Trae's value.

Nope. You draft the player for everything. Chris Paul is not Chris Paul without the defensive potential. Fred isn’t Fred, without the defensive potential. It is part of the Reed potion and should not be ignored. He has potential on both sides of the ball.

Our 3 point percentage allowed on defense has gone from 1st last year to 23rd this year. (Hello variance)
Our FT defense has remained strong. 2nd in the league last year and so far 3rd in the league this year.
