One of Kamala's few areas of gain versus 2020 voting results was with... wait for it... women over 65. Young people, 18-29 that is, appear to have swung by 10 points closer to the GOP. We're all monkeys and monkeys can sense a shift in power a mile away. Our natural wiring, without careful reflection, is to join the in group, the one consolidating power. Happens over and over. Everyone has their fave explanation (various isms, inflation, etc. -- all have some validity), but mine is all about chimps. We are basically chimps. If one loud chimp can break rules and get away with it, guess what? Other chimps notice them rewriting the code on the fly and don't want to be left out. Happy to put other more marginalized chimps down as long as they can solidify their perceived security. Even if they end up with less fruit and more stress in the end.
my demographic is black men… a lot of them went for Trump or were talking about “couch 2024” and didn’t even vote despite everything he says he wants to implement with regards to policing, healthcare, tariffs, cutting or trying to eliminate social programs, etc which will all disproportionately affect them…I’ve done my civic duty for so many years and none of it has mattered, we have 4 more years of Trump so right now I basically don’t care…every man for themselves
