I see a lot more Tesla on the road now and the drivers don't look as "high status" as they used to be. Basically I'm thinking about not buying one - any advice?
Depends on the Tesla imo. If you drive a cybertruck I am perfectly comfortable judging them as a pompous doucher. That is definitely an identity statement someone is knowingly making right now when they are spending that much money to buy that tin can piece of garbage. About 4 years ago before Elon sworn an oath to Mein Kampf I would have happily owned a Tesla if I could afford one, and if I bought one at that time I would have been stretching myself financially so I can see how people couldn’t just afford to get rid of it on a dime.
The Google says ... Teslas depreciate faster than other brands, losing value at a rate of almost 30% per year.
I think only the poors worry about resale value. Tesla is a california camry. High status Benz, Audi, porsche
If was forced to buy an electric vehicle, I would consider a Tesla. There are other good, quality EVs out there now that don't have the QC issues that Tesla does, though.
Yes. Cyber truck = Douche Model S = Electric sports car Model X = Wealthy Model Y = Middle class luxury Model 3 = normal everyday car Roadster = Pretty sure Elon says that is coming out next week. Stay patient my friends.
Great vehicles if they meet your lifestyle. FSD is coming along nicely and fantastic for long highway trips. Cybertrucks are also fantastic vehicles for those who needs its utility. Otherwise, I place them up there with the douchebags who drive trucks and only use the capacity < 1% of the time. Model S is the sports car Model X is a mid level luxury car Model Y is a mid level small SUV Model 3 is a mid level sedan I wouldn't recommend the S or the X unless someone has plenty of money to throw around. Those are in dire needs of a refresh. The model 3 refresh and 2023/2024 model Y's are well built. I wouldn't touch another mfg EV until they prove their models will be around. And obviously (maybe it isn't?) large tax rebates wipe out the resale value.
Other car manufacturers make far better EV vehicles. Tesla has the most robust charging network. But if other evs can now use Tesla's network I don't see the benefit of a Tesla anymore. Manufacturing quality of Tesla's are poor. And Tesla simply doesn't know how to do interior cabins like legacy auto manufacturers. Very cheap feeling interiors for the price point.
The tax credits are part of it. They actually have a used credit now, but can't cost more than $25k, which leaves you model 3 if lucky. Leaf & Bolt would meet that price, but they are a massive step down.
'Status' is subjective. It's certainly a status signaling symbol for middle income people who, ironically, don't understand how to use turn signals.
you are completely unhinged with your agenda...its extremely sad and troubling at the same time. To imagine you wake up with 3-4 issues on your mind every day and then go post about it. Be well.
What exactly is the utility of a cybertruck? Seeing them in parking garages…I cannot imagine driving this monstrosity around. Then again, I drive nimble sports cars.
They are great for strength competitions to see how fast you can rip the door panels out with you bare hands. Only 4 rounds per vehicle. Expensive sport.
Interesting that you are citing how people look. The truth is, Americans put a huge, inflated value on what they drive, and buy WAY too much car and spend way too much. It's one of the top reasons people are buried in debt. Instead of buying a barely used car that still has a warranty for 50%+ less than new sticker, they want the latest and greatest. Now couple with the rampant cult of personality of Musk, you have some people making some really bad financial decisions. Granted, these are a similar demographic of people who buy a $100k customized truck and never haul anything.
I don't mind the aesthetics, but it's not for me. Living in central florida, having a rolling battery pack for hurricanes is a nice selling point. The bi-directional charging and extended battery pack option is nice. There are plenty of small businesses where something like this can be very beneficial.
