Read the thread title dingbat. Get off my lawn kid !! Go to the, "I'm here to suck Sengun's knee caps," thread
I think Sengun is an ok defender. If you could trade Sengun straight up for Giannis tomorrow there is not a gm in the league that would turn that down. The question is what else would you have to give. Sengun and all the Phoenix picks and filler sure (you could throw Cam in as well). I don't think that gets it done, so if we ever get Giannis it will be when he is a year or 2 older and the price comes down. At that time, Sengun and picks might be too much depending on his health. For dreams sake, let's say it is Sengun, Cam, filler, and all the Phoenix picks for Giannis. That would instantly vault us to top 4 in the West in my opinion. FVV, Jalen, Amen, Jabari, Giannis would be the best defense in the league and would absolutely dominate on the boards both defensively and offensively.
Another poster in the other thread said it best, that good coaches make the best of it with what they have. paraphrasing. It's a reality that even Aquaman is being placed on the perimeter with a non shooter while Brooks handles picket fences who think they're Durant. It looked funny to me. It looked funny to Aquaman but that's Ime's style. We don't defend traditionally. It would be a cheat code if we had JJJ next to Sengun and Jabari. But Sengun is giving Udoka everything on the defensive floor. It's different but it works. Again, every metric in the advanced stats for Centers, Sengun's name is in the the top 10 for Defense. The only problem I see is if it's not his man shooting a three, he hesitates on going out to contest. Is there a stat to see how many 3s have been hit on him while having to contest on a rotation? Why yes there is! * When he rotates on top of the arch threes, 39% no bueno. * When he rotates on a corner three they're doctor raining him at 46% On some of these, others lose their man but he can't get there on time. Closing out will improve by not hesitating and just doing. Similar numbers around the league on closeouts, Mobley not Cuttino and Zubac. Compare it to Amen closing out? It's not even close. Amen is Elastic Man. followed by Eason, Dillon and then Jabari. wish statsmuse did a more accurate graph for closeouts. It's kind of like trying to figure out which DB was responsible for a Td in zone cvg.
You are perhaps the dumbest poster on here and DD is a member here lol Youre a troll. Thats why your posts are awful and no matter how many factual statements AND STATS people make to refute your insane take on Sengun's defense you keep posting it anyway. Youre crying about Giannis a 30 year old superstar, which btw is old in the NBA compared to Sengun. Sengun is a 22 year old who is just starting out and he is on our team Giannis isnt. And your reply to me calling Giannis old and telling you to go to the bucks forum to fawn over him is that I only like 19 year old NBA players. Thats an insane leap. You made that leap because you're a troll and its what trolls do when they are faced with the truth and backed into a corner. Thats why youre not comparing him to people his age because he would win that easily so you have to go with a guy 8 years his senior and who has already won a chip but has since become a demanding diva ruining his team in the process. Youre easy to read like the alphabet. Youre gonna reply to this post with something insane because thats all you have left.
Sure, and I'll take the one that is an: 8 time All Star DPOY (19/20) NBA Champion (20/21) Finals MVP ('21) 5 time All Defense 2 time MVP 31 points, 12.9 Rebs, 5.7 Asts, 30.2 PER (current) https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/antetgi01.html If Giannis was white you would move mountains to bring him to Houston
I'll put you on ignore. You are truly the dumbest poster ever. I don't waste my time conversing with dumb @$$#$ Include you as well @astrosrule
Can’t keep benching players(especially franchise players) whenever they make mistake. Sengun has to learn. Ime talked that talk when he became head coach about making Sengun a plus defender. Well….
Jabari and Dylan have been the ones guarding Chet and our guards have been covering SGA. some of you mouth breathers would blame Sengun if he were sitting on the bench.
He shouldn't be our last line of defense. No one in the league fears Sengun in the paint. He's not the worst defender but he's not good either.
He did go to the bench with 3 fouls and we couldn't score the entire time he was on the bench. It doesn't matter how good of defense you play if your offense is this bad. In all the games we've lost this year it had nothing to do with defense. We just went through scoring droughts for way too long to win.
Going back in time if we woulda drafted Evan Mobley our pieces would complement each other so much better. It can work if our 4 was a shot blocker but Jabari is even worse at protecting the paint.
