Jabrari and Reed are looking like busts as top 3 picks. Reed may be alright, but looks really slow on defense and scared to shoot. He’s certainly not looking like the 29 point 14 rebound effort Edey had a few days ago. He gambles on defense for the steal as isn’t fast enough to recover. His shooting fear reminds me of a shorter version of Ryan Anderson.

Reed I feel will eventually be alright. But he'll never be THAT guy. He's so small. If you're that small, you better have handles like Trae Young or Steph to be able to create space.

Okafor, D. Miles, and Adam Morrison are examples of #3 busts. Our guys are not in that class.

Yes, the 20 and 21 year-olds are clearly busts. There's no chance they get better.

This is the problem with this forum. This bullshit belongs in either of the Jabari or Reed master threads. Idiots like this should be banned. Another foreigner who doesn’t understand American message board etiquette.

You're just upset because they called your hero Reed a bust.

That’s not the definition of bust to me. Bust means a player who was drafted usually as a high lottery pick ends up not being a major contributor or consistently reliable player in the rotation. These players simply aren’t effective on either ends of the floor.

    Busts to me are:
    Dragan Bender
    Anthony Bennett
    Adam Morrison
    Josh Jackson

These guys may have started off as major rotational players but simply weren’t good enough to play within NBA systems and found themselves out the league once teams realized this.

Would you call these high lottery picks busts?
    -Okoro
    -Bagley III
    -Patrick williams
    -kris dunn

These guys aren’t starters but still major rotational bench pieces that are effective either defensively or offensively or both. They were drafted high but haven’t reached all star level of play. Maybe that’s ok. They’re still in the league and they’re still successful. That term “bust” is used too loosely by lazy writers and fans. Not everyone gets to be a star. And that’s ok.

I said the same things before the draft. I still don't see that he has that one special trait. He isn't Curry

Steph had handles coming out of college, both could shoot but Steph had handles, which separated the two. I compared Reed to more of a Jimmer Fredette type of player and I was CHEWED OUT. I'm not going to say he's a bust yet but he has not showed me anything to the contrary

If you’re ready to make a call about Reed at this point, you know nothing about basketball and deserve to be ignored. And your definition of “bust” is ridiculous.

    43% and 38% from 3 - in 9 rookie games is hardly a bust.

Fredette was absolutely a bust. With the exception of the first couple of years where they experimented with him, he couldn’t score and didn’t get more than 10 min a game. Again he was not a major rotational piece and was not effective on either end of the floor. Did not affect winning. Though not elite by any means Jabari has affected winning with timely rebounds, stops, threes etc.

I don’t think you know what a bust is.

I did put a disclaimer on Reed that “he may be alright”. Loved summer league Reed, but looks totally intimidated and overwhelmed in the real gig. His dad was similar in that he was popular at UK and flamed in the NBA. Too early to call, but was hoping to see more aggressiveness out of this guy. Based on his size, he’s gotta be like an FVV without the Ryan Anderson fear to shoot (in the playoffs) syndrome. Was mad at Ime for not setting picks for him, but that doesn’t appear to be the problem as he’s passing up open threes. That’s his main strength and if he’s not bombing away when open then his size/speed aren’t helping in other areas. He has it in him and it’s wayyyy early, but there’s concern that he’s a one trick pony who is not playing to his strength. This team’s weakness is three point shooting and he was supposed to be Curry (not Kerr-y) and needs the mental toughness that comes with that comparison instead of looking scared/intimidated when out on the court.

Reed is still trying to figure it out. He's the anti Cam Whitmore in that he's trying a little too hard to play the team game instead of the "me" game. I can live with that for now, but he's eventually going to have to come out of his shell a little bit.
