It looks like we had a population blip after WWII with the baby boomers. It doesn't look cyclical. What do you consider "better"? I believe we should be talking about quality of life and not using pure economic metrics to judge "better". Corporation need limitless growth to continue increasing earnings and valuation which is achieved through increased population. But what does that get us? It's just an end and it's meaningless. I can make an esoteric point about population density and network effects leading to innovation, but that can all be achieved distributively through technology now. We need to unwind from this endless growth ideology and figure out a how to live in stasis.
[Breaking] Bryan Cranston has endorsed Kamala Harris https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-...rris-trump-endorsement-abortion-b2628822.html
Harris will acknowledge the vote of the people. She will do what Trump didn't and wouldn't have done had he lost. She will peacefully acknowledge the loss and start working again.
Prop 36 was actually pretty moderate...center left at worst. It does a 3 strikes thing where shoplifting and drug arrests are a felony after the 3rd time. The opposition complained that it targets minorities and the mentally ill for the prison population and takes away from mental illness/treatment funding. Wtf...after the third conviction, they deserve to be in jail. That rehab is pissing money in the wind. The original prop "saved" hundreds of millions in prison costs, but the savings are cooked when you have thieves organizing smash and grabs and homeless harassing people. Give me a break. Also, a lot of those multi-billion bond measures on the ballot were not necessary if the government spent adequately on it when Cali had a ~100B surplus a couple years ago. Thanks Gavin. Just checking in on @KingCheetah - will he change the thread title to whoever is the candidate in 2028? Don't forget to post some glam pictures then. Worked well the last two times.
I do find it hypocritical of our conservative friends that they haven't questioned the integrity of this election. I would love the same energy they had prior to November 5th questioning the integrity of our elections. A Trump win should not stop them from questioning the results. I've always thought elections were fine besides a few isolated incidents, and this appears to be the case yet again.
