Clearly, it didn't work for the Democrats this time around. They brought out almost all of Hollywood and all these singers and other celebrities.

Regular people are smarter than those who want to patronize them think.

In fact, at some point, it might have had the opposite effect of what they thought it would have. People got tired of being told what to do, especially when their own wallet and sense of morals was telling them the opposite.

Only a moron would vote because someone like Joe Rogan, Elon Musk or Mark Cuban likes a particular candidate.

What celebrities do is keep a politician's name in the media cycle.

Americans watch reality TV and make decisions about who should be president because of their "business acumen" based on said reality TV. So ya Americans do care about celebrities. A God damn fake competition about "business" in a realty TV format convinced millions of Americans that a dude has expert business acumen to manage a nation-state. Ya we are stupid people.

Donald Trump is a reality TV celebrity.

Peanuts death probably swayed more voters than Tay Tay's endorsement.
I for one look at these people and just laugh. They are so thirsty like their fan's, empty vessels who need to be seen as an intellectual or a political insider. Both Republican and Democrat.

I grew up in the age of Bruce "the Boss" Springsteen. Used to love him, and then well, he turned into a political shill for the left.
I didn't go burn or destroy any of his CD's I had from the past. I just think he has an overly self-important opinion of himself.

Celebrities know nothing about the real world, so don't pay any attention to them and instead vote for our reality TV star to be President of the United States. Powerful argument.

Hmm, this is one of those things to check later when the exit poll numbers are crunched, but I assumed having consistent endorsements from Rogaine, Dana White, and Hulkster cemented Trump's campaign identity and had a rallying effect. Kamala's endorsements weren't coordinated well, and if she's gonna campaign with Cheney, at least bill it as a Koalition or something...

Most of that group doesnt seem to think their vote matters or that it's rigged so why bother.

Another relevant datapoint would be the smaller voter turnout. All those damn text msgs made it a slog where you couldn't find a moment turn off the stream of garbage

I was talking about endorsements. Come back to me when Lizzo runs for President.

Seriously I wonder who's more qualified between her and Trump to manage the world's largest bureaucracy. Lizzo seems to be a person who reads books more than Trump but that's a low bar. Difficult choice in terms of chosing based around competence to manage a bureaucracy. Obviously morally it's an easy choice as Lizzo isn't a fascist and Trump is.

I'm talking about a Trump (celebrity) supporter unironically arguing that people shouldn't put any stock in celebrity endorsements because celebrities don't know about the real world.

Again, I was talking about endorsements. When Jennifer Lopez runs for President, you can come back with the point you were trying to make.

Agreed. Anyone who voted for Trump because Elon and Rogan endorsed him...
...or voted for Kamala because Beyonce and Springsteen endorsed her...

...is an idiot who shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Trump actually has four years more experience managing the world's largest bureaucracy than Lizzo. So there's that.

I hope DOGE makes it a smaller bureaucracy.

How I wish Germany and Europe could be so fortunate, because they are way worse than the USA in that regard.

    Thread title should read:

People Overestimate the Impact of Celebrity Endorsements , yet Underestimate the Impact of Celebrity Candidates

A Winfrey/Stewart ticket would have annihilated Trump/Vance. ****, Cosby/Combs probably would have, too.

You can spend all the time in the world on a girl's Trigonum, but what experience do you actually have managing it if you can't make her O?

    Civics.

So apparently all the Tesla share owners who voted saw their shares go up 18% and it hasn’t been 2 days yet

But what about Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan, Ted Nugent, James Woods, and Kevin Sorbo?
