they could have maybe outflanked the GOP on youth with their running mate; but the late start and lack of a nomination process was yet another consequence of conventional widsom and strategy being outflanked by a white man and white electorate who know and colluded to stretch the full extent of their privilege. Tangentially this was probably the best possible time for a moderate third-party candidate and organization to ascend, with elected incumbents in both parties being undermined by outsiders and the media.
IMO the problem wasn't with Kamala. By any objective measurement she was qualified. The problem was the DNC. Joe Biden has obviously and clearly been demented now for several years with obvious decline. They were basically telling us not to believe our eyes and ears. It's literally a plot from 1984 by Orwell. Then they told us democracy is on the line while simultaneously shoehorning her as the candidate without a primary. Wouldn't it have made sense, if only for show, to gauge how popular she was with a primary? It's pretty clear America didn't want a female president.
Fetterman is 25th Amendment, concern trolling but I don't want his emotional state anywhere near an adversarial Presidential press conference or ambush interview on a big, credible stage like 60 Minutes, Lester Holt or Stephanopoulos. Does he drink?
For the life of me I don't understand the fasciation with that trust fund baby who never held a job through merit before electoral politics in his life. He also seems to have narcissism issues. He's the moderate liberal version of liking a politician because they are good at being mean to people they don't like a la "own the libs" that conservatives are well known for. He's mean to MAGA politicians rhetorically . He's mean to leftists who are party poopers for the liberal establishment to maintain the status quo. So he's a hero for the suburban upper middle class white liberal. To me he has negative charisma but what constitutes as charisma is different person to person
DNC fked up so bad. How are you going to throw up a unlikeable female + half black candidate 3 months before the election? It feels like this was the democratic voters saying FU to the party leaders for shoving Kamala down their throats. Especially a VP who was barely visible for 3.5 years! At the end of the day they should have throw up a WHITE MALE up there.
I think it has less to do with that and more to do with the campaign after the convention selling themselves as "the GOP before Trump" parading around Cheneys and saying Godlman Sacs approves of their economic plan.
No - I don’t think Fetterman drinks, if I remember correctly he stopped when he lost a lot of weight years ago. I have no concerns about him handling ambush interviews - he thinks quickly and finds way to diffuse conflict when he wants to. Health concerns are real - but he has regained his functionality like they said he would - and we just elected a 78 year old and Biden is like 80…
this is exactly how i feel about him. ive seen him in interviews and i dont feel like he is that great a speaker/debater or super knowledgeable. when i first heard of and saw the dude i assumed he was a veteran. he looks the part and he has that tattoo of the constitution (lots of vets get patriotic-type tattoos)...then i learned he was a trust fund baby who never had a real job. changes my perception of him for sure. also, its hard to take him seriously when he goes out dressing the way he does. the hoodie thing is obnoxious in the same way that jim jordans shirt w/ sleeves rolled up and a tie is obnoxious. just put on a f***ing sport coat you dorks. EDIT: i just looked up his wiki and although he grew up wealthy, he has actually had a few jobs and done some meaningful work...
He will resonate with the working class better than any other Democrat- and he has better political instincts than anyone I have seen on the Democrat side. He also isn’t a hero to the suburban upper middle class -
The way he dresses is a example of how his brain functions as a trust fund baby larping as a "blue color worker". He doesn't understand how people less privileged than him don't even have the option to wear hoodies and sweatpants 9am to 6pm. They have to dress professionally because they understand they won't be handed positions in life.
He absolutely is. I've only seen suburban liberals go gaga over him. Working class people got offended by his accomplishments in life before politics and how they are the anthesis of understanding laborers. They are the ones who pushed Fetterman quips the most online.
I think Harris and her campaign did all that they could. It's just that too many Americans were convinced that their lives sucked under Biden and the Democrats, regardless of whether that was truly the case. Anyway, here's hoping there's no buyer's remorse.
OH there will be - people forget what a disaster Trump was, and now it will be worse with incompetent YES men around him. DD
And so it begins, well done working class - you cut your own throats and benefits. NEVER MIND that is your money which you paid into......it is NOT an entitlement you literally paid YOUR money all your life into that for YOUR retirement. DD
Those reductions have been on the books for a long time. They aren't reducing anything. I'd support removing the windfall provision, but the spouse one should remain.
I been paying attention to my feed on Facebook, and all my friends that were Kamala supporters really seem to miss the mark of why Democrats lost this election. They keep complaining about the terrible human being Trump is and believe anyone that voted for him is a racist POS. I think this general consensus really speaks how Democrats continue to focus on the wrong things to campaign on. I ranted to one of my cousins yesterday how you can't generalize that every Trump voter truly likes the man. At the end of the day, we have two real choices, and if you truly believe one of your choices is part of what you associate your poor financial situation, then you are just going to vote for the other party, everything else be damned. You have your Trump lovers that truly love the man, but based on exit polls he still is not well liked, but that didn't seem to stop people from voting for him. Personally, I'm tired of seeing people insult those that don't agree with them. I'm also tired of seeing people group all of Trump supporters into one genre. Democrats really did not drive home the message of the economy, but at the end of the day, Kamala was part of an administration that failed to make Americans feel as if their finances were in good shape. You could of ran any other Democrat, and it's likely that in the voters minds every Democrat was lumped into "economy = bad". I really look forward in seeing people shift the way they think. They need to step back and really re-think how they deliver their message. Either way, this election was pretty pivotal and it's tough to see the real implications will be felt for decades. I'm not conservative, I don't lean conservative, and I'm concerned about how our laws may be shifted based on this incoming administration having another shot at shifting the judicial branch. I wish I could see the judicial branch as a body that is completely neutral on conservative/liberal values but that's just not the case. My hope is that we don't go backwards on some of the things that have been accomplished over the last few years.
What you’re just describing to me is the systemic brainwashing done to these people who hate Trump by the Dems and their media sycophants. Covid proved it to me that these people are easily manipulated and duped when you tend to lean left in your thinking. The modern left is marching lockstep with the Dems and cannot think for themselves. That’s why they cannot understand how 73 million Americans voted for Trump.
