I'm sorry but this is absolute bulls*it. If that were the case, why continue to take away reproductive rights from women? Why have laws been passed in red states taking away medical care rights for LGBTQ+? Why are books being banned? These are things that are and have happened. It's not me fearing for the future...it's the present. So don't give me this asinine crap that conservatives don't care how others live their lives. It's utter f***ing bulls*it.
Because you're a teacher, you voting out of preservation of livelihood is more important and more valid than other people voting out of preservation of livelihood. Got it.
Maybe talk to actual trans people to see why they are fearful. Open your perspective, expand your social circle.
Interesting, because "democracy" is like a concept introduced meaningfully around 6th grade, give or take. But I'm leary of the "Americans are just uneducated" explanation of election results when i don't like those results. Overall, if reading is fundamental to good governance, things should have been getting better and better and better. Maybe they are, but the trend didn't head of the rise of strongmen (including Roosevelt, god love him) all around the world in the 20's and 30's.
I am simply shell shocked; over the past week I was very optimistic that we would turn the page on trump and his disgraceful persona, but as so many have astutely pointed out, people don't really care about the fringe stuff if their own pocketbook is lower than it was 4 years ago and when they step into the voting booth its really about them, they care about the other things but not above their own interests. I also think we have very short memories, Kamala wasnt put in a very good position with a few months till the election and I think she did the best with what she had minus a few slip ups. I wont be a sore loser but I will say that those same folks who voted for trump because he "can fix it" with no real plan other than tariff's (which will somehow lower costs) IMO is wishful thinking. IMO trump doesn't care about anyone but himself, but for the folks who voted for him, I do hope he can lower my peanut butter at HEB, the problem with that (and things like gas) is the president has little to do with that. This utopia that gas should be $1.99 and my bread which is $2.99 now will be $1.25 next year.............I think those folks will be greatly disappointed, and as much as they feel like trump "loves" them (my mom actually thinks this) he does not give AF about anyone but him. He will start off with shock and awe and will tire of the grind, plus he wont have to worry about any of his cases........the presidency fixed everything for himself, now you will see if your loyalty to one man was worth it In 2 years, when people realize the mistake they will vote back blue and then we rinse and repeat in 4 years. How about this, every political add should have to be 100% honest and stop with ALL the LIES
Conservatives have no actual interest in fixing immigration. Your leaders want it to remain a problem to goad you into voting every cycle with empty promises. The Republican party is fundamentally unserious about this issue, and the fact you fall for it over and over is sad. This is pretty rich coming from the guy who accused teachers celebrating pride month to be "groomers".
Ding ding ding. The people who employ illegal immigrants, but are as MAGA as they come, have no interest in hiring Americans who want things like money, benefits, and job security.
Agree. It could be that the party that just won the executive branch of government, in charge of many policies and priorities, spent over $200M in anti-trans advertising as part of their national campaign. The number is not really in question and is publicly available. Whether people choose to notice or care is their choice. If I were trans, that would make me nervous. Simply as a citizen who wants to mind my own business, this kind of scapegoating of a small group of "different" people makes me very worried. https://truthout.org/articles/repub...-tv-ads-attacking-trans-rights-this-election/ This kind of BS also resonates with a kind of white hetero nationalism of a dictatorship like Russia, where being anything but a straight male or straight female is literally illegal. The government claims literally nothing else exists, despite what we know from biology and hundreds of species of animals including, obviously, humans. Do people want to live in an America that is anywhere similar to that? Sheesh, I don't. And if the GOP doesn't want that, why all this anti-straight-people rhetoric and advertising? Reasonable questions. Not fear-mongering. It's all about the kind of country we want.
This is the second thread I've clicked on today. And I think it will be my last for the day. I just wanted to say thank you to those here that fought a good fight here on these pages, and those of you that volunteered your time to fight the agenda of that man and the darkness he represents.
