Driving around DC seeing signs that literally read:

    "TRUMP SAFETY
    KAMALA CRIME"

    "TRUMP SECURITY
    KAMALA OPEN BORDERS"

    "TRUMP LOW PRICES
    KAMALA HIGH PRICES"

It felt like living in a simulation. Like our politics have devolved into such lizard brained nonsense resembling that old flash cartoon with James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich.

    "MONEY... GOOD

    FIRE... BAAAD!!!!!"

    It's a real question.

I'm not as personally doomer as other libs here because I think Trump is so grossly incompetent that not much will get done outside of regulations and tax cuts. That 100% will happen. Then people will vote blue once they realize their wages are not coming up and prices are not going down, they'll still be angry.

Immigration? Eh, my guess is he'll throw some soldiers on the border and make a show of it like he did the wall. He's not been very good on the issue, but he'll pretend like he is.

Tariffs? America is mostly an oligarchy now, that also has to pass congress. Going to be hard to do when Democrats will be unified against it plus you're going to get senators and congress people bought out by big money interest to block it. Elon was even on Rogan talking about how tariffs are a bad idea. If the donors don't want tariffs, they don't get tariffs, they'll buy who they want to buy to make it happen.

Voting rights? I don't care to search for the evidence right now but basically whenever someone tries to curb voting rights it actually makes people vote harder as people go into "Wait, why don't you want me voting?"

Healthcare? We'll see, this is the thing most at risk. We'll see if there are enough in the GOP to have the balls to do it.

People forget he had a mandate in 2016 and none of his big ideas happened. He just di

You are right though, now they have to play defense. If Israel bombing Gaza to glass upsets the rest of the arab world, that's on Trump. If Europe gets more defensive because he gives Putin Ukraine, that's on Trump.

    The environment is F'd though.

Nobody from paypal is part of a crypto project that I'm aware of.

I think Thiel might have some stakes in crypto adjacent businesses, but nobody has a coin or anything.

TBH the only good thing that I see coming from this is Bitcoin actually gaining a foothold in the American government.

All the shitcoins will get flushed like the turds they are, if they even make it through the door.

    Democrats suck at messaging.

She should have stuck with the price gouging, even if it didn't make sense, it would have at least communicated that she was going to have an immediate effect on the economy. It's like the tariff thing, we'll see if it happens, but that doesn't matter. What matters is people felt like Trump was going to do something and that she was just yapping.

I hope the one thing Democrats learn through this, outside of always relying on primaries, is to get better messaging.

Only one candidate talked about "price gouging" and that candidate lost big.

Perhaps it's time to stop blaming the wealthy and/or businesses for everyone's problems.

I think having a dedicated media ecosystem with billions or even trillions of dollars of backing is real hindrance to democratic messaging that all the actblue donations and doorknocking don't really make up for

    I'm just going to say...

I saw Marco Rubio earlier today and he seemed completely sane and reasonalbe. He cautioned his GOP for thinking this is a mandate and saw it as a responsibility to deliver on what was promised because if they don't, 2026 all that power can go away like that.

So, I see a lot of conservatives here saying "This happened because you called all of us fascists, racists, sexists!" but then you and others are doing the same thing. Democrats are sad now, but making them angry is just going to motivated them. Saying they are weak, have a mental illness, etc etc, that's all funny until they get motivated to vote again.

And if conservatives really do feel like name calling is this big thing then maybe they should stop now that they've won? How are you going to win over people to your side mocking them?

All I see now is that democrats are more gracious in defeat than conservatives are in victory.

That's smart of Rubio. He knows that Trump enters as a lame duck and that the GOP will be fully blamed for what happens from here on out.

She was up in the polls when she talked about that, she went down and flatlined the moment she started running to the right. Cuddling up with neo-cons and Mark Cuban was not a good look. The numbers are showing democrat turnout was down, that's the election, depressing your own base.

The wealthy and businesses might not be the entire problem, but the wealth gap certainly is, and the first party to actually address that will be rewarded for it.

    This is a valid point.

The conservative media ecosystem is like a hub and spoke system.

At the core of the solar system is Fox and Trump, basically circling each other's orbit in some weird symbiosis. When they shart out something, the other amplifies it, and away it goes to all the subsidiaries. It's remarkably consistent and on message with little interference or warble.

Meanwhile, the Democrats don't really have a very structured propaganda apparatus. It's like a very loose federation. Lots of inefficiency and static. When a very powerful figure unifies it (Obama) it can fall in line and act like a real megaphone, but otherwise it's a very garbled mess.
