It was too late to remove her from the ballot in some states. Their was very little time switch candidates. Kamala was the only viable option other than Biden. It wasn't an identity politics thing. This was on Biden welching on his pledge to be a one term president. Had there been time to run a primary, Kamala would not have been on the ticket. Kamala and the Dems did the best they could with a bad hand.
The Voters voted. They are responsible adults. Responsible for what they did. I cannot say I force a guy to beat his wife. . . . ..No matter that I did .. . he made the choice. The reality is this morning . . . .America has spoken IT says EVERY ONE SHOULD ACT LIKE TRUMP Our values and actions should mirror our president We should be ultimately as self interested as he Don't give a F about anyone but lining out pockets and seeking attention I'm done. Yep . . .. Just Go for self now Rocket River
Do you truly, honestly believe that if 20 million illegal immigrants are deported, there will be no crops harvested, houses cleaned, lawns cut, or houses built in the United States?
Biden deserves the lion's share of the blame. But, when it became clear that he couldn't run again, there was hand-wringing over the optics of passing over the first black woman VP. Those uncomfortable optics are an inevitable outcome of prioritizing identity over merit. I think we can look at the returns from the last few elections and see that minority voters do not automatically support someone because of their identity as more of them have flocked to an old white man who clearly indulges racism. We can rightfully say that out-of-hand dismissal of Harris as a "DEI candidate" had racial undertones and acknowledge that she would've never been on the ticket in 2020 or 2024 without a certain progressive orthodoxy when it comes to identity politics.
You keep beating that drum. Seventy-one MILLION "racists". Yep that's the reason she lost. Had nothing to do with people all across the country being fed up with how things have been over the past four years? You know people are FED UP when Trump gets the following % in states that are (and have been) DEM for years. CA 39.9 % NY 43.9 CT 43.9 NJ 46.5 OR 42.5 NH 47.8 IL 47.1 Sure are a lot of "racists" in these states!! Keep believing people didn't vote for her because she's a "woman" and a "woman of color". Had nothing to do with her not being able to string multiple sentences together or being to control the questions she would be asked. Thus why she didn't go on Rogan's podcast. Go crawl back in your hole and living your bitter life.
So I am expecting the war between Russia and Ukraine to end by the end of January 2025 because Trump said so!
First - if the United States is seriously going to deport 20,000,000 people there is very likely going to be a great deal of unrest and violence. Many of those in the USA illegally have spouses and children in the USA - jobs in the US and in some cases case to the USA at a very early age. Second - the cost will be one hundred billion dollars to do it - if not more. Third - inflation will skyrocket, and in 2-4 years it will be the Republicans being thrown out on their ass for economic reasons. The only real feasible thing to do is to have some sort of amnesty program for those that are already here - and then have reforms for those trying to get into the country in the future. I would not ever rule anything out for the party that controls all branches of government - but I suspect that Trump will fail at deporting 20 million illegal immigrants and will blame it on the opposition party because it is smart politics.
What you call self interested is in reality people just wanting to be left alone to work hard and provide for their household with as less interference as possible. The concept of "everybody should end up in the same place" is not appealing at all and a massive turn off.
I still cannot process that this has happened; however, I have had some time to think more about this. It was obvious that Harris was a flawed candidate - she had so many things going against her. Unfortunately, this country is not ready for progress. I guess we had more people believing that Krazy Kamala would turn the whole country into a liberal nation or California or whatever more than we have people caring about all the crazy and outrageous things that Trump has said. The last time he was President, my life personally was not impacted that much. It was tough to go to the grocery store and see prices for things that were around 4 dollars now be like 6 dollars. But there are 2 things that I worry more than anything else: 1) His economic policy, especially with the tariffs on China, has been roundly criticized as it should be by economists who are considered experts as unsound. 2) This Project 2025 garbage...I work at a community college as an assistant professor. Getting rid of the department of Education is not going to be a good sign or something that I welcome as education is my career. There are problems, no doubt, but axing is not going to be the solution.
