You know, that sounds kinda like, I don't know, a rookie. Too bad Reed has too many NBA games in his belt to qualify as a rook.
Hopefully tonight game earned him some mins. He play well, if you have low expectations solid mins as a bench player.
It's a process, I never expected much from him this season even if I'm really high on him long term. Easily his best game today, he was active in the offense and not just "out there" trying to avoid mistakes.
He did get up 8 shots and all of them were good looks except the blocked one. I think if he can find consistent minutes he will start letting it fly. Even the misses are about as close as you can get. He'll start nailing those eventually
He’s playing within the offense instead of trying to jack up everything like Cam has. His benching is deserved.
Reed played great. You don’t know ball if you can’t understand how much better Reed is than Cam. Reed runs the offense, is active on defense and is the best shooter on this team. Reed should start over FVV.
Ime mentioned how much they want Reed to shoot in the post game. I hope his teammates are in his ear when he passes up shots. He has to learn that being passive won't lead to more minutes. For him, the path to more minutes is taking and making shots. I think he's waiting for some more easy wide open shots that just won't come often for him at this level. He's gotta pull when he sees any daylight. I wouldn't take it as him beating out Cam. Up until this game neither had played great. I think a big part of it was just shortening the rotation. It's hard to get all 10 guys meaningful minutes. I think Tari has earned the brunt of the backup forward minutes and Amen had earned some extra burn which bleeds over into some guard minutes. So, instead of playing Reed 8 mins at PG and Cam 8 mins at SG, just let Reed and Amen split the backup SG minutes. I'm sure Cam will get his chance when the inevitable injury or trade happens involving one of our wing players.
Reed actually played defense tonight. It’s really not much of a secret to how you get in Udoka’s rotation - you gotta put in defensive effort. Cam’s effort is still very inconsistent.
Well I care if he misses. I want wins more than Reed Sheppard playing time. Cocaine Curry 3 pt shot only works in college. He needs to clean up his mechanics and make his release faster so he can get it off in time at the NBA level. Right now he needs to be focusing on just being aggressive and playing hard on D. He was much better tonight than before but overall still needs a lot of work. IMO he still needs a GLeague stint.
