https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/us/elections/results-timing-presidential-race-calls.html Dear @AroundTheWorld, @CrixusTheUndefeatedGaul, @basso, @Space Ghost, @Salvy, @Scarface281, @Commodore (sorry if I missed someone, I’m terrible with names): On Tuesday night, Trump will tell you he has won the election, counting should stop, and Dems are cheating by counting or “finding” ballots over night, in the cover of darkness, when terrible terrible things happen. For your benefit, please be advised that each state has its laws and rules about when counting can commence, the order in which counting proceeds, and how counting is to be done. The attached article provides a summary of counting processes in the swing states. But let me spell out Pennsylvania for you, since everyone is aware that Pennsylvania is probably the key state. The Pennsylvania state legislature, controlled by Republicans, enacted laws providing that THE COUNTING OF MAIL-IN BALLOTS CANNOT COMMENCE UNTIL ELECTION DAY. Yes, this is what Republicans wanted. Also, the rules require that BALLOTS MUST BE COUNTED THROUGH THE NIGHT, UNTIL ALL BALLOTS ARE COUNTED. Basically count until you’re done, do not stop. Again, on Tuesday night, Donald will tell you that he has won Pennsylvania before all votes are counted, and that Democrats are cheating and doing nasty things at night. You are now prepared for this. I got you. You should get on Truth Social and inform him that, no Donald, our Republican Party made it so that mail in ballots can’t be counted before Election Day and ballots have to be counted through the night because the Republicans made those rules. To all of CF - honestly, I thought this would be useful for everyone who is paying close attention to the election. I realize this is NY Times and some might say it is partisan. Maybe Trumpers will say it is “fake news”. But this is the best summary that my crappy search skills could find. I would invite folks to insert other primers that are useful.
That’s lovely. It even rhymes at the end, which is quite catchy. I hope you did the reading homework, so that you understand how this process will unfold.
Ultimately I do not care. As long as law and order is carried out appropriately. The president is not a dictator. Trump can sue, win or lose. As will Harris. If they need 30,000 votes, they are going to go look for 30,000 votes. As long as those 30k votes are found legimately, Im ok with that. As I always said, if it comes down to a 1 state toss up decided by 20,000 votes, IMO both candidates are eligible for victory and represents a fairly elected president. It always reminds me of when the Rockets would play crappy all game long then b**** they lose the game over a bad call at the end of the game. Next time, play harder. Don't overturn Roe V Wade. Don't nominate an airhead who didn't get voted onto the ticket. Both sides have made idiotic blunders all election. The both deserve to lose.
You don’t care if Trump lies to the public, declares he won PA on Tuesday night, and accuses Dems of cheating with no proof, while PA vote counters are following the process and laws laid out by Republican state legislators? If that is the case, you don’t have any regard for truth or law.
You mean like when Harris claims Trump wants to pass national abortion bans and supports project 25 and many other lies to get elected? Get off your high horse. Being self righteous doesn't suit you.
National abortion ban - I agree with you. Project 2025 - I think Trump is lying. The circumstantial evidence is overwhelming. The authors of P2025 are all in his orbit and or work for him. Some/many of the goals and steps outlined in P2025 are part of Trumps platform or rhetoric. His go to lies are … I’ve never read it, Ive never heard about it, I don’t know those people. The circumstantial evidence to the contrary is overwhelming. My horse has never been higher. I addressed the issues you raised. How about mine? Are you fine with Trump unilaterally saying he wins PA on Tuesday night and that Dems are cheating by counting through the night? Its a simple question.
It doesn't matter if you think he is lying. He has clearly stated on multiple occasions he doesn't not support project 2025. I already answered you. I don't care if he makes those claims. As long as the electoral integrity is held up across the board, they can say and attempt to do whatever they want. That goes for both Harris and Trump. There is very little integrity in either party these days. The difference between you and I is that I don't worship and mindlessly obey a party.
Yet his published agenda on his website is full of Project 25 agenda items. And Trump ****ing lies about everything you can never use "TRUMP SAYS" as any sort of defense unless you are a certifiable moron. DD
My fault, I failed to remember you already said you didn’t care in your first post (I guess bc you went on to talk about other things). You do you, if you don’t care when a candidate outright lies about the outcome of the election (setting up insurrection 2.0), that’s your prerogative. I do. It absolutely matters if I think Trump is lying about P2025. I am not required to accept what either candidate says as true, and I take it upon myself to educate myself and make a judgment. I would like to know your basis for contending that I “mindlessly obey a party”. You can believe what you like, and say what you like, but there isn’t much merit there.
Okay, but what about Agenda 47, which is on his website? It contains a ton of the same Project 2025 rhetoric.
I went through both policies when they first came out and its literally as if they did a copy and paste from P 2025 to Agenda 47............I am not sure why trump was dismissive of P 2025 and then turned around and copied it and posted it as his own under Agenda 47
