is he though? Do we have an offense that’s complicated to run? The game looked pretty good when Amen was running the offense at the end of regulation. And usually our offense is a ballhandler receiving a screen or Alpy having the ball on the perimeter and a wing getting a hand of (sometimes including an off the ball screen first). I really like Fred. And I can understand Ime sitting players who had a bad game so far: But somehow he is way more lenient with Fred regarding this. Today we came back because of chaos. Swarming the ball, playing really fast on offense. In overtime we tried to play normal again. That hurt us.
Ime is an F so far this year. All three losses have been on him. FVV has played like dogs**t all year and he still is getting close to 40 mins a game while Amen rots on the bench for most of the games. Every time Amen and Tari get in the game the Rockets are crazy good. Ime then complains that we can’t put 4 good quarters together. Maybe It’s because you keep killing any momentum by your stupid rotations. Last night was one of the worst coaching exhibitions I have ever seen and I watched all the Silas games as well.
I think he sees Fred as the steady veteran presence. His teammates have said the same. Fred clearly has to be better.
Last night was not his finest moment as a coach to be certain. His coaching and rotations were significant factors in the loss, no doubt about it. I still like him a lot as a coach, but I'm not sure he knows what to do with his rotations so far this year. Hopefully he gets that figured out because right now it's hurting them a lot.
I’m not picking on Sengun, but him sitting down starters and guys who just got big contracts is why the rockets got back into that game. NBA teams need shooters. He’s not designing plays to take long jumpers. They’re talking what the defense is giving them. Someone has to be able to shoot to keep teams honest. Of course teams are packing the lane. This is the NBA. These guys are paid a **** ton of money and we’ve constructed a roster where no one on it seems capable of forcing a defense to make an adjustment. A collection of super athletic guys who can’t shoot is great for AAU basketball, but it has a very low ceiling in the NBA.
You're completely right about Sengun; he had the worst stats of all the starters, and Ime was right to bench him after that first terrible mistake in the third quarter. He was just lumbering around like he was strolling through his garden. If you look at the stat sheet, it’s clear, he didn't contribute to anything at all. That's why I declare this campaign; #BenchSengunForeverUntilHisContractExpires
"Richard" is a gimmick poster. His act seems to be particularly unravelling the last 24 hours. Truly pathetic.
Udoka woild kill for an actual shot blocker on this team….An actual defensive paint presence to counter with.
Only a genius like Ime would neutralize and take the ball from Sengun's hand and jail him in bench forever. That alone should be enough to extend Ime for another 10 years to save our future.
Ime got us to 50% last year, which I didn't really think was possible after Silas tenure. I don't think many coaches could have pulled that kind of change within an org that had been so awful. This season I am pretty frustrated with the benching of Alp and Whitmore, and the lack of Reed PT. If JG and FVV are absolute trash, he needs to be less rigid (this point is highlighted by the benching of Alp which seems hypocritical). Overall I give him an A, but this season is starting off frustrating.
