When it comes to a team not knowing the basic actions that all teams have to take against defensive strategies, it's ALWAYS on the coach.

 

a lot of these guys grew up playing AAU where they relied on their athletic abilities and they were just faster, stronger, and quicker. read and reacts isn't something they're used to.

that's why a lot of us have been clamoring for an offensive-minded assistant.

just like how kubiak was good on offense, he needed wade phillips to help with defense to complete the team. similarly with how mike d'antoni needed Jeff Bzdelik to complete the team. too bad chris paul's hamstring didn't hold up.

Stone need to go out there and find a better offensive assistant.

 

Basically the summary of the season until proven otherwise.

Well other than Tari, it's never over for Tari

 

Which is more likely to happen first:

Ime getting fired or Sengun being traded?

 

No Lurry or Klay and this team still can't beat the Warriors.

 

Right? We still gonna see 40 minutes a game of a guy shooting less than 30%? Give me a break!

 

It’s not really that the players don’t “know”. I’m 1000% if you asked them they could tell what they’re supposed to do in each of these scenarios, much better than you or I.

It’s that on the court they hesitate, don’t execute, and revert back to whatever they’re comfortable with. Some guys that’s braindead drives into a crowd at the rim. Some guys that’s hoisting a contested jumper.

There’s blame for the coach in not preparing them better, sure. But definitely also blame for the mental makeup of some players.

 

Udoka is okay with veterans repeatedly making stupid mistakes.

But if our young players make a mistake, Udoka will be mad and sit them right away.

Can you develop young talents without allowing them to make mistake?

 

The issue isn't the benching younger playere, that's the correct move. The issue is not benching the veterans and letting them cost us the game. They all should've been benched and the wrecking crew should've been who closed the game, they got us back into it and were fighting way harder. Bringing in Jalen, Fred and Dillon was wrong and bringing in Alpi after he sulked completely unengaged would've been just as wrong.

 

Maybe you have a good point regarding Ime's potential and about replacing him with a real offense coach. However, need to have a plan to replace him, a good coach in mind, not just fire him 5 games into the second season without a plan of action.

 

You forgetting to log back in as rocketschamp before quoting yourself apparently, lmao.

would like Alpi to demand a trade to the Heat and get Spo to give him a shot at stardom. The Rockets with Ime and this lineup are not going anywhere this season and next.

 

This can't be a real post. Every player had to leave the bench at half time or the end of the second quarter. This is nonsensical.

 

Lol. The end of the second quarter is the halftime and everyone leaves the bench.

 

Before the end of the second quarter, as in, he walked off the bench whilst the game was being played...

 

Some thoughts:
- we played stupid for a large portion of the game, not recognizing mismatches and playing off of the likes of Buddy Hield.
- we allowed Draymond to punk us, except Tari & Amen.
- Sengun getting these odd DNPs for long stretches are ridiculous, at least let him prove he can provide something. It’s not like Jabari wasn’t getting lit up by bigs and smalls left and right.
- Ime’s trust in FVV is fine in the larger scheme of things, but you cannot just favor him and allow him to suck while others get punished. I get it, he’s a veteran, he’s earned his keep, but this is not the way to go.
- FVV is playing himself off of this team right now. But as long as Amen cannot shoot and Reed plays as he has, there’s no worthy replacement. I would experiment with Jalen at PG with Tari & Brooks as the wings though.
- Tari is the ****ing man and glad he’s back, 6th man of the year material right there.
- we clawed our way back into the game, but there’s no excuse for coming out of the game like this. I hate how my Rockets have been this team that has to get stomped on before they wake up more often than not. It seems an issue with almost every team I’ve watched since 07-08.
- our offensive system is almost non-existent and it’s the biggest reason we are 3-3.
- Ime is costing us and how dismissive he was of Sengun going to the locker room could indicate a few things, but I’m not going to speculate. But not playing him in OT is definitely a decision. Not a good look regardless. Ime’s starting to lose me.

 

The only reason I can think of Ime Udoka not benching Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks is because they are Trade Bait and don't want to send signals to other teams they are low value.

The Rockets are not playing Reed Sheppard because they are hiding his Value.Teams will lowball if Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks come off the bench. Even Jabari Smith is not getting benched much saving his value at the Trade Deadline.
