If you are right, which I kind of agree, then what usually happens is that the coach gets fired. You can fire a coach. You can't fire a star player. A competent coach is not hard to get. A star player is. Good coaches get fired all the time and another team will pick them up soon. Star players don't get traded very often.
Both haven't won shet to be fair, of course, in theory firing the coach only takes a nod from Tilman. But finding a coach that fits Sengün is not effortless. And Kenny is taken. Maybe Denver fires Malone and he can come over.
I think a lot of innovative coaches would love to have their hands on a player like Sengun. I don't think Udoka is a bad coach. He is just not an offensive minded coach who knows how to use the talents on the team. It can be fixed by hiring a good offensive assistant. But it will only happen if Udoka is willing to admit his own shortcoming and I am not sure if he is capable of doing that. At his hiring, I was worried about him not wanting to be accountable given the way he was falling out of grace in Boston. He holds the players accountable, which is great. But does he hold himself accountable?
It's weird how some fans can be doubtful about Ime after he singlehandedly made himself kicked out from a championship team...Why don't you trust him when he already proved himself in the past?
None of the Twitter guys who have ties to the organization i.e. Gatlin, Will, and Bradeaux made any personal comments on Sengun being benched as far as I see. There has to be some word going around backstage. Hope some bridges are not being burnt.
Maybe it's not the mountain his fans are making it out to be, and is instead just a regular molehill.
Don't you think it's abnormal that a player you gave 185 million dollars and set as one of your stars of the future is not being played more than 20 minutes in a game that went to OT? I'm not a SOF or anything close whatsoever but this is just weird and piques my curiosity. The closest thing I can think of is Brandon Ingram getting benched last year. Look how that situation turned out.
When that same player apparently walked off the bench halfway through the second quarter, and then sulked on the bench and looked completely uninterested in the game when his team mates were leading the comeback and scoring the FT's that sent us to OT? Nah, I don't think that's unusual at all for a coach who's calling card is supposed to "toughness and accountability." The anomalies are keeping FVV on the court period and keeping Jalen on the court tonight. The Sengun benching actually fits in perfectly with who Ime's supposed to be, it's the other bits that are off.
I can't blame people scapegoating Udoka for someone like Sengun... Ime knows what he is doing and brings us absolute wins without him. Sengun is the only liability of this team and Ime is right all the time without fail. As obedient fans, we gotta die on this road.
He played the 3rd quarter after walking off and sulking only started well into the fourth, after he realized he is not put back in. Maybe I'm paranoid but there is something else here, I don't know what but something. Or Ime is just really incompetent and doesn't know how to manage his players. This is not how you treat your star player. I'll start asking questions if this happens with Jalen, too.
It happened with Jalen last season and wasn't a problem at all. It's only now he's benching the Golden Child that people have a huge issue and are starting with the wacko conspiracy nonsense, if we're keeping it 100.
I was sitting not terribly far behind the bench at the spurs game on Monday and there was definitely some sulking going on from Alpi during timeouts. He wasn’t having a great game so I get it but he definitely was giving off a “I want to get out of here” vibe - wasn’t paying attention in timeouts and was staring off into the distance.
Yeah it was clear on TV every single time he was on camera on the bench tbh. The SOF's apparently couldn't see that, the entire time we were on the comeback run all they could post was post after post after post after post about "where's Alpi?" "why are they benching Alpi?" "I just don't understand why my darling Alpi can't play every single minute?!!" He may be as entitled as they are, I hope not.
I did not have a problem with them getting benched last season because they were still on their rookie contracts. This year they are two players with huge deals guaranteed. They are the faces of your franchise. You don't bench neither of them for whole 4th quarter + OT.
I take it you never played any organised sports? Treating people like special little flowers is how you end up with players sulking on the bench and being terrible team mates. Like Alpi tonight. I'd rather have a consistent coach who coaches people like athletes are supposed to be coached. You play bad, or you come with shitty energy, then you get ****ing benched. They're also still on their rookie contracts, their extensions haven't kicked in yet. Nobody is above coaching, thinking they are is a horrendous way to approach anything, especially team sports. "Oh y'all can get benched, but not special golden boys Jalen and Alpi" it's literally what you're all crying about with FVV getting to run wild (which is r****ded) but made into policy. Ridiculous.
