Ime Udoka on Rockets OT loss to Warriors, Alperen Sengun's struggles

Holding players accountable and benching them only works if it happens to everyone fairly. That was not the case at all today.

 

It is ugly to see Udoka like a fish out of water.....seems this is getting over his head.

More and more Udoka cannot explain things.

 

And it works if you do it every now and them. If you are doing it regularly either the player is bad or you don't manage the player correctly.

 

He is overwhelmed, I mean it is hard to coach a kindergarten NBA team......and then devise plans which he is not capable of.

 

The main problem is he sucks offensively. I don't see an easy solution here.

 

This is crazy Cam just 4 minutes and FVV and Jalen 40 mons of brickfests.

This guy is not from Houston.

 

Half of the game it will look amazing, half of the game it looks like amateur basketball.....

Fans should get used to it for half a season.

 

The team is clearly filled with talents.

The problem is they can't be properly used by Udoka.

 

It never looked amazing in terms of coaching, there was amazing hustle. As soon as coach interrupted the hustle it looked horrible again.

 

Hustle can still win you games. GSW is balling out, against any other mediocre team this should still be a win.

Hard fought win.

I think he is not a championship caliber coach, probably a little above average. Too much expectations.

 

I think most coaches believe a C can basically do 2 things to make up for being worse at most everything else than wings: defend the rim, and/or be an offensive hub (PnR, DHO, post etc)

As per the press conference Ime didn’t think Sengun offense was working for us tonight, since we couldn’t handle the Warriors blitzing.

To your point though, I don’t think Ime has ever thought Sengun at the 5 provides better defense than our Amen/Tari/Jabari group. That’s not just about tonight.

So right now, if Ime doesn’t think Sengun offense is working -- he’s not putting him in high leverage situations.

To fix that with Ime, either Sengun halfcourt offense needs to just be better, or Sengun needs to be as good on defense as the small ball unit

(Not saying this is my POV, just what I think Ime is thinking)

 

Nothing wrong with hustle, just not much of a coaching thing.

 

We as fans have more time on our hands than he has.....Imma drag this out ...not sure he should be on the hot seat.....

How much does Tilman care about Alpe is a legit question in order to stage an Intervention.

 

I said it in the Sengun thread as well. Ime might do better with another center but his offensive skills won't cut it for a deep playoff run, especially in the west.

 

It is hard to talk about Playoffs when your team is not even a perennial contender only a team from the outside looking in.

I am not betting against it but to be hopeful that Jalen Green shoots 40% from 3 and 50% Overall is just a pipe dream long term.

As shown in this game, this team does not have super great Stamina for 70 ish games.

 

Jalen will have rough nights as teams gear defenses toward him but no excuse to keep throwing FVV out there on an off night if our TOs not out of control.

Ime has to make some offensive adjustments specially when teams take Alpi away also

 

He was bad offensive coach yesterday and he is still bad.

 

Yes, Looney scored on this possession, but I don't see a lack of effort from Alpi here. Zero help from Bari who was guarding a ghost.
