What happens if he goes to the G-league and continues shooting 28-29% three pointers? What happens when his defense continues to be subpar in the G League?
You seem very confident that's what's going to happen. What happens if he goes down and shoots the lights out?
Yeah, I'd expect Reed to have a lot of success in the G-league, it's not a high bar and he's got the IQ. I think Reed is good to go today for the backup role, he just needs more confidence, G-leagues perfect for that.
He also needs to be given a chance to succeed more. He's not the same kind of player as either FVV or Jalen, he's a sniper. Run some god damn off-ball screens for the kid and get him some WIDE open looks beyond the arc and see how quickly opinions start changing. It's like people have never seen him shoot, his form is incredible.
Truthfully I expected him to shoot better than what he has now. I'm surprised at how its been going. If he goes down and starts to shoot how we expected him to from the start then I will truly be satisfied.
Ime isn't too dumb to play him, unlike you when you said Jalen Green is a bust and Rockets would regret extending him.
Reed doesn’t need time in the G league because his developmental needs are completely different from guys like Amen or Cam. Both Amen and Cam needed to get their decisionmaking, composure, and comfort on the floor sharpened up. Physically they were ready for the NBA, but they needed to get the bonehead decisions and dumb turnovers coached out of them a little. Reed doesn’t need that. Ime has said they love his decisionmaking already. Reed needs reps against the best NBA speed, size, and athleticism. He needs to figure out when / how he can get his shot off vs rotation quality NBA guard defenders and rim protectors. That will only come in NBA games and practices.
Reed needs minutes to do all of that and there just isn't enough to go around. This is a team built to win now. This was always going to happen. They will try to keep him up for a few games but he will eventually be sent down so that he can get the proper amount of minutes. He needs 20-30 minutes a game and that just is not going to happen.
Clearly he is too dumb to play him... or has been thus far. Now I know you are personally too dumb to know the difference between past, present, and future tense words, so i won't waste time trying to spell that out for you again. I'm just over trying to speak as relative equals with people who demonstrate reading comprehension skills below an 8th grade level.
LOL I dont understand why you are still so cocky and arrogant when you have been pretty much wrong in everything you have said. Remember when you said Jalen Green is a bust and Rox were gonna regret extending him? Wrong. Remember when you said Knecht was too old to make it in the NBA? Wrong. Remember when you said Edey was too slow and immobile to play in the NBA? Wrong. Remember when you said Reed Sheppard is so athletic and such a good shooter he was gonna make an instant impact? Wrong. Bruh just stand down. Calling other people dumb when you are the one with zero clue is just so embarrassing. Ime isnt playing RS because he sucks ass. Nobody is out there saying give Sheppard PT cuz they know and they have seen Sheppard sucking ass. Dude needs to get some seasoning in the GLeague before he steps on the court again.
Just reduce 30% shooting FVV's minutes and play more Reed. Reed's shooting could not be worse than 30%.
Trust me kid, you've demonstrated that you don't understand much. Good luck trying to get to an 8th grade reading comprehension level. If you pull it off, we'll talk then.
Reed is very passive to a fault. He's not really making mistakes either, but it's way too risk adverse to play this way and make impact. I feel like he doesn't have enough confidence and also doesn't want to make mistakes. But then again it's not like he took that many shots in college either. To be an NBA player you need to have some ego and take risks even if it means not playing the "right way" at times.
Sheppard's got 10+ minutes in the first few games, but since then his minutes have shrunk to about 5. Plus, Udoka seems to be using him as an off-guard for spot minutes rather than the primary ball-handler. I guess that makes sense given that he's a rookie on a team with playoff ambitions. On the other hand, Udoka's been leaning heavily on FVV (and Brooks). For the past three games, FVV's been playing around 40 minutes. My guess is that this is because Udoka doesn't yet have anyone he completely trusts for that backup PG position. Hopefully, he'll figure out something soon, because I don't think these iron-man minutes for FVV are sustainable.
Ime is going to give FVV heavy minutes until he can't (injury or whatever). This young teams till needs a reliable PG at all times and that shouldn't be an indictment on Reed (5 games into his rookie career). He's also the type of coach to ride the hot hand and every game is matchup dependent. Eason and Thompson on a bottom 8 team would be getting 30+ minutes a night. The Rockets are just deep.
