That poster has had some kind of weird anti-Reed agenda since well before the draft. Check out some of his post history. This last post was one of the worst I've seen. Putting the blame on Reed for losses where he barely played? He's likely not watching the games AND has some kind of strange beef. Asinine. Reed has looked tentative through 4 games but objective watchers that know basketball could have told you he wasn't going to light the world on fire immediately. Few rookies do, even ones that end up as lights out shooters. Aside from the poor shooting (small sample size) I think he's shown that he has real potential. That being said, a stint in the G League to get some mins and shots up isn't a bad idea. And hell, I think we'd be fortunately to get Steve Kerr 2.0. He only played 1/3 or so of his career with the Bulls but he was a lights out shooter everywhere he went.
Ya its true they are not getting played nor plays run threw them. Need more time to figure out what the real reason is , but obviously there just not making it in the rotation yet. Reed needs more playing time but probably going to have to earn it on a playoff bound team.
This tracks with the folks saying how weak this draft was. People seem to forget that when discussing the "top 10 picks" that might have not even been top 30 in other drafts. It's all relative.
Yeah it's early. They're young, but they're are very few putting up numbers. Hell a lot of dudes haven't even played. Reed will be just fine. He's who I wanted and I'm sticking with it. Shead's looking good, but he's getting 20mpg on a crap team plus he's a couple of years older. With all that said, would love to see Reed with something near 15/4/5 with a steal or 2. But against Dal, doubt he gets the min. That is unless the core goes nuts and he gets plenty of garbage time. A man can dream yall!
Rookies lose you games and there are like 25 competitive teams in the league. League of parity means playing rookies is going to be harder moving forward.
Nah that can't be true, those of us who went with the experts are all lying and making up that it was a historically weak draft remember? That's the narrative the Reed haters are running with to justify their nonsensical "he's a 3rd pick he should be a great contributor already" narratives. Plenty of us told all the people hyping Reed up before the draft not to pile the ridiculous expectations on him by comparing him to CP3, Nash and Curry. We were told we were wrong and he's a generational talent who'd be better than our actual starters day 1. This is entirely a "Clutchfans makes **** up and ignores reality, then gets mad at their own made up bullshit when it doesn't come to fruition" scenario. Sheppard is exactly what people who didn't overhype him into a GOAT level player in their minds expected him to be, and he's going to be absolutely fine and great at what he does, he just needs a little time.
Every stretch Reed has played in the Regular season has been good in my opinion. He can play point guard and his ability to be disruptive on the defensive end, clearly translates already. He is going to be fine
Reed 2.5 pts/gm in 9.5 mins/gm. .263 pts per minute and .189 assists per minute. Bronny 1 pt/gm in 4 mins/gm. .250 pts per minute and .250 assists per minute. Bottom line. Reed not much better than Bronny. I've seen enough.
For the Sheppard bedwetters: From watching him so far, it looks to me like he’s trying to be the “new guy,” setting up others even when he should probably take the shot. At some point he’ll get up the gumption to try to take over a quarter and maybe a game. But he’s not one of those guys who come into the league looking for their shot. If we needed a 2, I might worry. But we need a 1, so I’m happy to see him thinking this way.
Yeah, he's definitely looking to making the right basketball play. It's not summer league, where the Rockets were running a 2 man game with him and Cam. I do wish he'd get more confidence in taking the occasional shot. Coming off a pick, take the shot. I yell at the tv when this happens (well, the 4 times this season in his 13 minutes ) I'm not sure how Ime works with him - does he encourage him to shoot more? I would think someone shooting 50% from 3 in college would get a lot of encouragement from his coach. Especially with Dillon at 31%, Jabari at 29%, Cam at 7%, FVV at 31%... we can use his shooting. I like his middies, too... seems to be pretty comfortable. That being said, he looks comfortable making the right read and he's had some nice assists and hockey assists in his limited time. I wonder if he was shooting more (and hopefully hitting), would that get him more minutes, or would he still be basically the 10th man, getting less than 10 minutes currently...
Amen and Jabari still suffer from this. Reed will be fine and once all three figure it out the Rockets starting unit (with Tari in tow) will be a nightmare.
He's always been this player (post-high school, anyway). He's always trying to make the right pass, the perfect play, etc. He doesn't really look to be the guy or take a shot from the looks of it. It could be mostly because he's the new guy, but also could be that's just who he is combined with he's still learning. One intriguing point of the season so far for me happened during the post-game press conference after the Pelicans game when they asked Ime what he thought of Reed, he said that he's doing fine, he picks stuff up quickly, and then added with a smile before laughing a bit with the reporters "he makes the right read........................ a lot of times". I don't know if they'll be able to break Reed of his unselfishness or if that's just who they want him to be for now since he's going to be playing off the ball and on the ball a lot initially, I would guess. His problem may be that just because he's playing a PG role doesn't mean he just sets everybody else up at the expense of easy buckets or taking his own shot, but I get his hesitation when there are a lot of mouths to feed and they're all his seniors.
He's the picture perfect "nice kid" who's super respectful, says all the right things, acts the right way, works hard and contributes without much ego. That's awesome tbh, but at some point he needs to tap into a bit of ego and just get his shot off. That's not remotely a slight on him either. His size limitation is probably going to make him one of those kind of players who has to work 10 times harder than everybody else to make up for the lack of natural advantages, so we WANT him to be one of those guys who always does things the right way. I'd be interested to see how he responded if somebody tried that cute bullshit like patting him on the head or something and lit a fire, something tells me the ego would kick in and all of a sudden those 3's would come raining down...
Reedlings going down in flames. Remember, him not getting minutes was only part 1 of my prediction. Part 2 is really gonna set it off. That's the part when the Gs make that call to the H.
He's definitely that. I'm sure he's a great teammate to have around. I think since Ime's said that they want him to play both on and off the ball, just like he always has going back to high school, maybe they're asking him to do certain things. Maybe instead of focusing on scoring? I don't know. Or maybe Reed's taking what they're asking him to do to the extreme. Or as I said, when Ime chuckled about Reed making the right reads... a lot of times, maybe he's still catching on to the NBA game. Reed himself has said he couldn't care less how they use him, he'll do it. Of all the people on the planet who says that, I believe him the most when he says it. lol. Like I said, I'm guessing the NBA speed may be something he's getting used to, as well. Risacher over on the Hawks just got through saying in France he was considered super-athletic in basketball. He said in the NBA, he's just another guy in terms of athleticism. Reed may be running into this a bit, too. Like every other kid coming into the league, I'll give him 3-4 years to show what he has. I pray his jumper is still intact.
