Yea, I was very hesitant to jump on the "Were a contender" train but I did and now I am pissed, I fell for the okey doke. I want Nick and Ryans to do SOMETHING but I am afraid the O Line is too big an issue to solve in that short amount of time. I love Demeco but I need to hear from him about what he will do to fix this, maybe it's not in the cards this year..................................That wasn't just a loss, that was an embarrassment
I absolutely get that. Sportsfan me 20 years ago is a way different Sportsfan of me today. (but I still love the Beasties and other such 80s-90s stuff) @BBS: This is not my fault at all, @Nook reminded me of this song, and now you all have to listen to it I've known this for a long long time, speaking of shortness, anyone who thinks they can telepathically jinx a sporting event is a moron. But you still shouldn't talk about a no hitter until it's over.
Seriously? Carr's OL was so bad, the opposing defensive players would actually apologize to him after sacking him.
This is all massively overblown. Carr was a lazy piece of trash who did not care one bit about football or his teammates or anything. He was gonna be trash no matter the line and would have made any line look incompetent.
Now you just demonstrated that you don't know what you are talking about. David Carr is No.1 & 3 on the all-time single-season sack list. In 2002, he was sacked 76 times. In 2005 he was sacked 68 times. All total he was sacked 267 times in his career. You can try pinning the blame on him all you want but there's NO f'ing way a young QB is going to develop in that kind of situation. Look at what's happened to Bryce Howard in Carolina. And, just listen to the conversation going on today about how all of the relentless pressure is negatively affecting CJ - about how his head is being scrambled. About how we cannot allow this to happen to CJ and get worse. That's exactly what happened with David Carr. In fact, the dumbest thing I recall was when they actually had Carr practice throwing over ladders in order to get his passes off because the OL couldn't stop the defensive pressure.
Carr had 5 Green caliber o linemen, Stroud has one. It's not the O line that had Stroud playing like Anthony Richardson missing easy passes, holding on to the ball too long, and running into sacks. Carr fantasizes about an o line as competent as the one the Texans currently have.... we forget, but his O line was essentially a hate crime.
No qb who doesn’t give a crap is gonna succeed. It’s impossible. If carr wasn’t SUCH a lazy piece of trash he would have been miles better than he was
If I got that answer, I would respond with that is just the first of a thousand WTF questions I want to ask. I don't think I ever think plays like that are great. I usually think, 'Thank goodness that worked'
Yeah, it sucks. CJ isn’t the same. It’s very surprising to me that our offensive line is worse this year than it was last year and I thought it needed a little bit of improvement last year so I’m very sad and upset. We have the right pieces but it looks like CJ doesn’t have the protection he needs and it could cost him his season or more.
That seems like a very personal take, like you have insight into him in the pre-social media era. I'm not saying you're wrong, but you are displaying a lot of conviction with that take.
Where was the screen game?! Stop trying to get your franchise QB killed back there. It's clear CJ is not comfortable behind that OL - he's got happy feet and you can tell even as a casual fan. Something has to change or you risk losing your QB to injury the way he is getting pummeled back there.
The screen game? I wish they could but this team has not been able to run a screen consistently all season.
Was watching the Giants/Steelers game the other night and as bad as the Giants are, their screen game is crazy good. As an OC in the NFL, how freaking hard can it be?! CJ was visibly frustrated last night and heck, I'd refuse to get back on that field unless something changes. Last thing the Texans need is a season ending injury to their franchise QB.
I’ve said this 100 times so I’ll say it again. yes the line was bad. David carr was worse. At least 75 of those sacks, at least! Was Carr running out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage to preserve his treasured completion percentage stats.
