He's definitely headed to the G-League for a long stint. I think the size factor is the issue here, and he's just really overwhelmed on the court with people who are substantially bigger and longer than anyone he's played with in his life. I like Reed alot, and think he has real NBA skills, but man... the guy just might be too small. With drafting talent that's just one thing you can't do anything about, and it sucks. We'll see how his size is impacted in the G-League where it's a little more like it was in college. He's gotta show that he can do things like past small PG's did to still impact the game. Otherwise at best you have Steve Kerr 2.0, and that model of player is only valuable if you have a superstar that creates wide open shots from the double team. Right now I don't see Michael Jordon on this team so I don't know that there's going to be much value in a player like Reed Sheppard. Hope he goes to the G-league ASAP and can show he can dominate at that level, and there are skills he has that'll translate with the length and size at the next level.
It's still too early to say he belongs to the G-league. Just 4 games into the season. We'll see how he and the coaching staff adjust his role. The thing is, Amen's offensive game is regressing. That might affect how Reed is going to be used.
The GLeague does not even start for another week or so, no need to talk about something that is not happening.
He was -7 and the Rox lost by 3, -6 when the Rox lost by 5. Every loss we had so far Reed Sheppard arguably cost it. Even the last game Udoka only played him 3 mins and he was -1. If Udoka played RS 10 mins that game may have been a loss as well. He should be sent to GLeague ASAP to develop.
I don't think u watched the game if u are simply using +/- to sht on a rookie. Like did u see him turning over the ball? Did he miss defense rotation? Blaming our losses on a rookie playing minimal mins is wild. We haven't even seen what he could do bc ime is in love with fvv.
If Reed was drafted to the Wizards he'd be getting substantial playing time. He unfortunately got drafted to a team that has a deep rotation that is trying make the playoffs.
There is no shame in being sent to the G-league especially if there are no minutes available on the main roster. It should not be looked at as a demotion but rather an opportunity to develop and get more on court reps. The Rockets have shown they know how to maximize the benefits of the G-league to get the most out of their young players. For the time being I'd rather those few minutes Reed was getting go to Holiday (who is not shy at all about getting his shot up). I think Reed will be great but not quite ready yet. I don't want to sacrifice games to develop him (that is what the G-league is for).
A lot can happen in a few minutes. If RS was playing instead of FVV he wouldnt hit that 3 that closed the game instead we lose the game.
Our 2 losses only lost by a couple of possessions. Not crazy to think a scrub playing caused the loss. You are the pathetic one drank too much college Kool Aid and can't admit he isnt Steph Curry with a 42 inch vert.
He'd come back a better player imo. Work on playing PG full time for a month or two, get rid of that habit of picking up his dribble, tighten up that handle a bit. Needs some reps there. Our second unit really needs him to be safe with the ball.
The complaint isn't that Reed needs mins in crunch time (goal post moving). It's that it's wild to blame Reed for our losses when he played minimal mins. U need more mins to gauge how good a player Reed is. He has yet to play any meaningful mins, and it's not because he sucks. If u are doing your due diligence u would expect him to get actual mins b4 writing him off. Ime is too in love with fvv. Using +/- on a guy who Play next to garbage time mins to blame for a loss is stupid as fk.
Your weird hate for Reed is misplaced. Maybe chill before you completely write off a 20-yr-old rookie who has played in the NBA for like 2 weeks. Declaring him a scrub at this point is a Bobby-esque take
