Even when I was super down on Jalen, I maintained that him playing at his peak is easily the best player on this team. There's no one on the roster that can do what a peak level Green can do. The question has always been could he reach and sustain that top level play. Right now, compared to other times he's played well, it just FEELS different to me...It looks like its more than just a stretch of unsustainable hot play...
I’m really surprised by how many people thought he would just be inconsistent forever. I feel like many on this board underestimated the time it takes to develop a young guard. Most great SGs start breaking out around 22 - 23, if not later. Let’s put it this way — last season, only 17 players averaged over 24 ppg. Only two were under the age of 25: Ant and Maxey. And no player was under the age of 22 like Green was last season.
Nah I would like to see ore games too but his squad needs practices and coaching in between games to clean things up. We’ve had long scoring droughts in every game. This team needs off days to fix their issues.
I’m glad his offense has been more consistent but I’m really impressed with his defense this year so far. He really took a jump up in that category.
His defense improved significantly last season. This season, he’s legitimately been an excellent defender. And yet, @Downtown Sniper clings to his dumb avatar…
So here's an interesting bit of insight. We've heard many times how inconsistent and "bust" like Jalen is. I decided I'd compare his big game production so far against the other top 10 draft picks who could be considered a SG in Jalen's draft and the 2 drafts that came after (as Reed's draft hasn't had a full season yet) and then average it across the number of years to compare. Whilst he might not have been consistent within his own talent level, people may be shocked at how far above and beyond every single one of his peers he is. This list includes pure SG's, PG/SG and SG/SF players all drafted in the top 10 (so similar expectations.) Enjoy. Jalen Green 20-29 = 73 (Average of 24.3 per year across the first 3 years of his career) 30-39 = 30 (Average of 10) 40+ = 7 (Average of 2.33) Jalen Suggs 20-29 = 21 (Average of 7 30-39 = 0 40+ = 0 Josh Giddey 20-29 = 30 (Average of 10) 30-39 =2 (Average of 0.66) 40+ = 0 Bennedict Mathurin 20-29 = 33 (Average of 16.5) 30-39 = 6 (Average of 3) 40+ = 0 Jaden Ivey 20-29 = 26 (Average of 13( 30-39 = 7 (Average of 3.5) 40+ = 0 Shaedon Sharpe 20-29 = 18 (Average of 9) 30-39 = 1 (Average of 0.5) 40+ = 0 Dyson Daniels 20-29 = 0 30-39 = 0 40+ = 0 Johnny Davis 20-29 = 2 (Average of 1) 30-39 = 0 40+ = 0 Anthony Black 20-29 = 2 (Average of 2) 30-39 = 0 40+ = 0 Just to summarise for those crazy people who like to claim that Alpi's "proven to be a better scorer than Jalen" in their careers so far (I forget which Sengunatic said that in the game thread the other day.) Alpi has a total of 52 20+pts games for his career. Jalen has 114.
That is a big boy basket right there! Jalen is going to send Wemby to the spirit world soon I can feel it.
Nah he's Jalen Green 1.0, these lesser talents won't match up when it's all said and done. Significantly lesser genetic advantage. When he hits his prime people will look back and think "****, we really compared him to these slower, less freakish guys just because we couldn't bear to compare him to some of the greats? Damn."
I'd say he has a B+ level handle rn with S tier athleticism... I wish Amen had something close to Jalen's handle smh
Lol yeah... Devin Booker 2.0 = Jalen Green 1.0.. An elite 3 level scorer with elite top end athleticism.... Booker has the skill, but lacks that exceptional top tier explosiveness, speed, and quickness.... If JG continues to improve and maintain relatively efficient shooting numbers anywhere close to what he's shooting rn for the season at 22 years old... Look out
