I’m not giving up on the two guys we just extended for Giannis but I’d do: Jabari/Brooks/(2 of Green/Landale/Tate)/4 future firsts for Giannis and then I have to memorize how to spell Antedikimbo
Giannis is a different conversation and tempting absolutely, but he's nearing 30 and we'd have to gut our team. His game although has skills for sure, isn't primarily skill-based/outside shooting but more dependent on his freakish athletic talent, so may not age well after 5-7 years. By then our guys will be nearing thier peaks. Over ten years the Bucks might win the trade as he fades and if those guys become stars. I don't think they'd take anything but a king's ransom for him, so I'd pass. Don't want to make the mistake Harden's OKC made either by not realizing what we have until they develop.
Giannis and Jalen going downhill for a full game would be a damn nightmare to defend. Rim pressure to the umpteenth power.
Giannis is a great target for the rockets. But not for Sengun and green. By the deadline we should know whether including either makes sense. If Giannis demands a trade, the bucks really lose leverage. The bigger question will be where Giannis would prefer to go. Don’t count out NY or the West coast. I doubt he would force okl as a choice. Giannis leaving would signal a re-build for the bucks. Okl, rockets, and NJ have the best assets to offer. If he wants Phoenix, we might be able to get involved if we still want Booker. Booker really does not need to be a target if Jalen’s progression is real.
Think about the defense and transition with Jalen, Giannis, Amen, Tari and Jabari. Of course under that scenario we would be looking for another center, unless Jabari or Giannis takes that spot defensively
Giannis would be shifting to "win now" mode. But realistically nothing could be done until after this season. He would cost one of either Green or Sengun PLUS at least another of our young guys PLUS picks. Eg Sengun and Thompson and 2-3 PHX picks Does he get us over the line? Is he worth that investment? Quite possibly! But we are a handful of games into this season, long way to go for the Bucks and the Rockets!
I am not sure that we would if Adams is healthy - that said, it would be wild to have Giannis, Adams and Amen in the same lineup in the modern NBA. None of them spread the floor.
Sengun, Amen, picks for Giannis would put us to contender status. Let's not overvalue our players and think that since Giannis is about to be 30, we're limiting our championship window. There's no guarantee the team as currently structured will become contenders in the future. Giannis provides that immediately. Him and Jalen would be one hell of a show.
Why would Giannis move from a team intended to be a contender to a team happy to make the playoffs? The Rockets' current team has to make some major internal improvements before we can begin to make those 'missing piece' type of trades.
Lel I guess Giannis also thought 30 ppg Lillard was going to make him Champion. Not everything works out in the first place. Stars being compatible is actually worth a masterclass teaching. Also Giannis is far not as dominant as Shaq was and Hakeem was or in striking fear into the hearts of others. Udoka or Stone could fork things up.
Im running Giannis at stretch 5 with that lineup. Jalen and Giannis would have to score 30+ each to make it work, but holy sht that defense would be suffocating.
You are nuts if you don't want to trade for Giannis. That being said of course he's not the superstar I'd prefer the most, and it would come at a significant risk. But Stone and Tillman would trade every single asset and player we have for Giannis so if he's on the market in the next year or so, do not be shocked if you hear about the Rockets offering the kitchen sink for the guy. My issue with Giannis is that I don't think his game will age well. As his athleticism fades a bit, he'll be more of a 4/5 than what he has been as a dominant versatile athletic presence. I also don't think we'll be able to get him unless we develop another star first, or trade simultaneous for another star at the same time. Giannis will be able to dictate who he goes to so I just don't think we should worry about it. He ain't coming here anyways.
Giannis is on the wrong side of 30 for his type of game. He might not even be the same type of player in 2 years when’s he 34 year olds. I don’t see it.
I agree. That's why I said "intended to be". He wants to contend for championships. If he leaves the Bucks it will be to go somewhere that he believes he can do that immediately.
