If he can sustain that somehow, with the defensive effort, then we’re in a great spot :) Preferably one of the Ari’s gets up to 37% and Sengun keeping making them too whenever he needs to, then we’re really good. If Reed can then get up to 40-45% too then we’re in heaven ;)

Imagine if you took away all of the random heaved ones towards the end of a shot clock or quarter too?

I don’t anticipate the holds it over 40%, but I am optimistic. It stays above 37. The shot looks a lot better. He isn’t jumping as high, he is jumping straight up and down, and his body movement is just very controlled other than one or two of them.

I have a hard time believing 40%+ is sustainable, but I'd be happy with less. As Dobbizzle mentioned, when you're the main scorer on a team, there are lots of last second shots and heaves bringing your percentage down. To keep it above 40, you have to be approaching Steph Curry levels of shooting.

Yeah I’d be content with 37%in high volume

Not sustainable because he has largely been getting the benefit of teams encouraging him to shoot so far this season and going under on screens.

What will be interesting is to see what happens when teams start to take the shot seriously and how that will impact Jalen's game when PNR defenders meet him at the level on screens and his man comes hard over the top of screens
    - Will he be able to make the right reads to screeners in those instances?
    - Will he be able to create his own offense by using the threat of his shot to create advantages for himself?
    - if yes to above, will he able to get a 3rd defender to commit to help to open up opportunities for others on the roster? (potentially shooters like Jabari, Reed, Cam, etc.)

....all I'm saying is the reality of Jalen and Alpi is likely somewhere in the middle of where both players have started the season off. Jalen is undoubtedly better, but once the season settles in, he is probably not getting the same looks that have made him look incredible to start the year off. Alpi is struggling, but he also should find his rhythm at some point in the next few games.

I've not noticed Green getting looks given to him. I've not been one to say Green was great when he wasn't, but I've not seen any reason to short Green for what he's done this year. Sure, it is still a small sample, but it should be treated like any other 45 random 3PAs. If anything, they are likely harder than a random 45 3PAs. Maybe he's not taking as many bad shots as he normally does, but when I see him take a 3...rarely do I think the other team played him too passively.

I’d far prefer teams step out on Green’s 3 anyway…cause I love him attacking the basket. I dare you to step out. :)

Green might get some open looks, but you’ve not been watching if if you think they are not contested and just wide open shots. There’s been plenty of contested, highly ones, close ones, and he still makes them. If anything, Green could stand to benefit from taking less of those but they are falling for now so keep heaving!

Exactly. Amen is getting the “dare you” looks. Not Jalen.

Based on what I’ve seen so far with the changes in Sengun, Amen, and of course Jalen’s 3 point shot over the summer whoever the shooting coach is deserves a raise. Of course they all could revert back to their tendencies but so far the changes in all of their forms looks great.

This is exactly what I wanted to see from him. Still a small sample but I sincerely hope he keeps it up. If he's still around this level at the halfway point of the season I'll be ready to call him a breakout star.

I heard The rockets want him to take at 12-15 3’s a game and as long as he keeps 4-5 of them, they’re happy with that. Most of those will be open off of screens and offensive rebounds

Anything above league average at high volume is a smart play, on paper. Every .1% up is gravy. Anything that starts with a 4 is dream scenario.

Yeah, that's the next thing coming. Someone's going to have to challenge and hope they have the horse to stop him from dropping nukes on the rim.

Yeah he's making them too lol Amen making 33% is also best case scenario at any volume. The middy jumpers have looked decent too although the results are meh. Bit of an odd start for him. 3s are falling, turnovers are high and the defense has been erratic.

I guess he goes 0-8 next game. It was a good run before this thread.
