If you accept John Kelly's claim as 100% true (despite the lack of corroboration), what he said was that Trump wanted generals like Hitler's that were loyal to him. Not someone to invade Poland. Not someone to run death camps. Just someone that wasn't undermining him. When it turns out that Trump was right and the generals were actively undermining him (see General Milley), that shouldn't be a surprise. That has nothing to do with loving Hitler or doing Hitlerian things, it just means he didn't like the fact that they were undermining him.
Sadly, I don't think the people who hold that office tend to understand or appreciate the Constitution. Certainly Biden doesn't. Harris doesn't. Trump didn't and won't. Obama didn't. I can't think of the last POTUS that really supported and defended the Constitution.
Then you agree with what I said and disagree with, oh, every Democrat in the media and posting on here. Great.
Nope, he isn't like them either. Erdogan is a dictator and fights a literal war against the Kurds in his own country. Where was the Trump war against the elements he disagreed with in the United States?
How is that different than 2002 when the security apparatus was ramped up? Because it affected you personally?
Ah yes, President Trump is the one that was supporting the BLM riots. Not Kamala "Bail Fund" Harris. LOL.
Trump literally implemented operation Warp Speed, the fastest push for a vaccine in history. He also didn't stop the disastrous lockdowns and school closures implemented by state and local government.
What foreign policy decisions to benefit him and his family's business? You mean like having the most aggressive trade policy against China in history while his daughter had a business there?
I will certainly agree that we never had divisiveness like when Trump was president. That tends to happen when someone is constantly attacked from before the point they take office and it falsely labelled Hitler and his supporters Nazis. I work with many Trump supporters (I keep trying to turn them, but it is hard to sell a third party in our system). None of them are Nazis.

There is so much evidence that the goal was to overturn the election. Trump is under federal indictment because of these actions. So call it what you want, but like can we at least all agree that what Trump and his people were attempting to do was to overturn a Democratic election??? Is that something you think is "normal."??

I know you say you aren't a Trump supporter, but downplaying things like this is why people continue to question your motive here. A big part of what makes countries like Russia have such a powerful disposition to authoritarianism is the communal narratives that get pushed through propaganda. That propaganda over in Russia doesn't draw the line as much as it blurs it, downplays it, and just leaves it's society thinking "oh well everyone is bad anyways so might as well stick with the strongman."

Your motives here aren't as clear as others so I think it's worthwhile giving you another chance here to clarify, and separate yourself as a true independent. Do you believe in Democracy?? If that is yes I would think you would take the opportunity to NOT downplay what Trump did with his "stop the steal" nonsense, and reject that instead of playing the narrative game that does serve Trump's interest of normalizing his actions which can NEVER be normalized in a Democracy.

Just because he failed the first time does not mean he will fail the 2nd. He hired principled men that held back his worst urges. This time he won't. He will hire those loyal to him as he started doing at the end of his first term.

You didn't answer my question though. Avoiding answering that question is exactly the point I'm making about how people view your motivation & potential agenda. I want to have thought provoking discussions with folks like you if I know there's no agenda.

If that's the way you want to let it stand than that's a pretty damning non-answer.

It isn't hard to find a link to my own YouTube channel. It does come in very handy when I get the whole: "I know you claim you are a libertarian" bit though.
Why would I have a discussion with someone who starts off arguing in bad faith. I have provided video proof of who I voted for, but seem to be one of the only people who other constantly claim is lying about who he voted for.

You definitely lean heavy to the Republican side of the libertarian spectrum IMO.

I have never denied it. I am libertarian right on the political compass. I am against the taxation and spending plans of the mainstream parties, but the Dems just do it more. I want a small, cheap government that lets people keep their money and is limited to the enumerated powers provided to it in the Constitution.

Neither of our two candidates will give a straight answer on any question asked to them.

Why would you expect anyone on this board to give more than that?

You can say what you want, but every single poster on this board has some sort of agenda. Even if that agenda is to just be heard by others.
This board is basically divided into cliques:

    Trump supporters
    Harris supporters
    Pro-Israel supporters
    Anti-Israel supporters.
    Climate truth supporters
    Climate denial supporters
Jan 6 was an overblown situation supporters.
Jan 6 was an insurrection supporters.
    Election was stolen supporters
Election was on the up and up supporters
    Trump is weird
    Vance is weird
    Walz is weird
    Harris is weird.

Yet here we are all calling each other names, dip$hits, morons, incels, cringe, fascists, Nazi supporters. Genocide supporters, Russian bots, libtards, MAGAts
    I could keep going.
    Did I miss anything.
I'm going outside to yell at some clouds that look like political figures.

The fact there are people that actually think this would be the reality under a Trump administration says everything about how low information a lot of liberal voters tend to be, and how easily they are swayed by fear mongering from liberal media.

It's like people have amnesia and forget Trump was the President before from 2016 to 2020. Were gay people not allowed to love? Were they not allowed to have carnal relations with each other if they wanted to? Was it mandated that women not work and stay in the home? Were blacks suddenly fired from their jobs?

Trump appointed the highest-ranking openly gay ambassador (Ric Grenell) in history (to Germany). (I know, because I was invited to the ambassador's residence several times.)

Clearly, Trump hates gays and is Hitler who had gays murdered.

@StupidMoniker going to spend all day arguing with normies saying a coup wasn't a coup, an openly fasicist campaign is not openly fascist, but alos we shouldn't expect it to be becuase last time he was president he waited till the end to do a coup, or something something but also, shoplifting from CVS, or something, and that he's not some bald-ass middle aged MAGA chud but simply a libertarian *going his own way* blah blah blah

Honestly literally 100% (except for the last part) is lifted from an average 5 minute bloc of Fox News - everything is so exhaustingly tired and spent.

    **** Trump, **** MAGA, **** Fascism

I don't agree with you politically - and sometimes I don't think you quite get the point that both sides are making.

However - can say that 90% of the time or more, you are consistent and you do discuss matters in a civil matter and don't move the goal posts.

So I do have respect for you are your positions - even if I think you are often wrong.

@StupidMoniker for President 2028? Will he really make government so small it’ll fit in my back pocket?

    Who is he running against?

    I'll take him over Vance.
