He got outplayed by that punk Sochan in both games. Offensively he could not score on Wemby.

People have targeted him and he got a little figured out and he is not in best shape as X.com had us believe.

What goes around, comes around, him dropping 45 points on Wemby did not go unnoticed by Pops.

He's stronger this year and harder to move.

He's also so long that he doesn't need to jump early. He just stays on the floor and lets the player jump first. He can still get the shot because of his length. Sengun's first shot in the first SA game is a great example. Alpie spun and got his hips in front of Wemby but he was still able to easily reach over the top and block the shot.

What you don't see is Wemby jumping at every fake . It's a huge advantage for him to be able to wait until the player starts his shooting motion before reacting. Going right at him isn't a high percentage move.

Wemby is 20lb heavier this year and much stronger. It's a lot harder to move him. Maybe Embiid can dislodge him but most opposing bigs can't and it's only going to get harder as he gains more strength.

Why do you think that Sengun didn't just bully him in these two games? He was getting dominated, if he had a solution that simple he would have gone to it.

He is also leading the French national team in major tournaments, this will only make him better.

I get the hate but that dude is pretty much a monster in the making and already is one.

Agreed, directly attacking him down low isn't a high percentage move. If you can shoot the 3
, that definitely prevents him from sitting in the paint. But you have to be able to hit threes at a good percentage and at a high volume. Maki g 1 or 2 per game won't bring him out. They will gladly give up a three or two yo allow him to completely shut the opponent down in the paint.

Yes he is. And it's going to get worse as he gets stronger. Hopefully, it won't include realizing that he has a much bigger advantage the closer to the hoop that he operates.

He's 20lb heavier and much stonger this year. He's not getting dislodged as easily this year.

I think he is in love with his jumper and fadeaways and thinks he is 7'4 KD....let him think that for a while.

If he realizes that he is a Center, everything falls in line for him.

He wil get faked and beaten.

Also, the heavier he gets, the more foot problems he will have.

Maybe, but the vast majority of the time he stays down and lets the opponent get off the ground before he jumps.

Who knows on the foot problems? He can add weight and still not be heavy. It's not like every tall guy has foot problems. Yao's foot issues started way before he came to the NBA or put on weight.

Yeah, that's the play I remember. He gave little resistant against Sochan's bump who's not bigger than him.

Wembanyama - so far - is not a winning basketball player.

He hasn’t lost anything. He is just rusty against NBA talent in a game situation. Everybody said he needed to work on his 3 pt shot and FT’s and what did he do? He became better at both. Sengun will make you guys’ criticisms of him 4 games into this season, 2 against a much improved and stronger Wemby, look super silly.

I said that from the beginning and thought he was overhyped. I’m starting to believe I was wrong. So far he is handling his added strength very well and looks to be very teachable. If he gets a 3 point shot, he is going to be a top 5 player in no time. This is a development year for SA. They’ll make out like they want to compete for a bit, but they will be in full tank mode before the year is out. The NBA will gift them a top 3 pick or so and probably Cooper Flagg. Any 7’6” player is going to be an injury risk, but it looks like his body might be able to handle the extra muscle.

There is no way Wemby is only 7'4 by the way. He's at least 7'5. He can grab a rebound before the ball starts its downward motion. Like the ball peaks and he grabs it but i have a lot of reservations about his game. Obviously he's going to be all-star dpoy, average 25 ppg but i don't expect him to ever be a one man army like prime Giannis, Lebron etc. Feels like if he's their best player or should i say the go to guy they can't win anything. Even Jokic can't do **** if Murray underperforms. He will not morph into a player who gets the ball ****s **** up and discourage you. When you are 7'5 people will find a way to take advantage of your uncoordinatedness (hope that word exists). You can't have good handles if the ball bounces back to your hand in 2 working days that's not going to happen and he's not athletic enough to even beat Sengun and Sengun has slow feet. I'm not too worried about the future unless they build a great team around him. If they can't he's not going to be like Lebron and almost singlehandedly get them into the playoffs. He's not capable of that but he's scary on defense man. Even the most explosive guards scared of his size.

Look at the no. 1 and 2 in screen assists in the league.
