I think it was meant to be a side note but nobody knew that reactions would be blowing up. This only shows how much people just care about their favorite players......it is not even a big deal. Preseason is glorified Summer League, folks cannot tell me otherwise but it was a good test. Jeff Green and Steven Adams play their hearts out, we already knew.
You know, now that I think of it this team is a modern day Celtics super squad. It just hasn't figured that out yet.
4 games in, and the Rockets are 2-2. Not as good as you'd hope since 4-0 was on the table but the Rockets couldn't close out. However, to some extent, the Rockets are shooting almost unsustainably poorly, so to come away with 2-2 shooting this bad is not a terrible sign either. Outside of Green and Eason to some extent, there is a significant drop off in TS%. Not a single person outside of Green and Eason is shooting even close to league average in TS% (56.7%), which should not be sustainable figure long term. Amen and Sengun for example should have almost definitive improvement in offense.
A few additional considerations early in the season. If we remove the outliers, Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green have the highest net rating on the team. Brooks with a considerable lead as well in this department. Dillon Brooks and Green are also the only two players where the team's net rating is worse with them off the court. In other words, the team is actively losing with them off the court. Brooks has a pretty absurd on-off net rating difference, in that the team is not only much better with him on the court, but also much worse with him off the court. However, Brooks shares the fewest minutes with Amen Thompson, who currently has one of the worse net rating on the team. FVV and Green equally share the most minutes with Thompson, so this might exaggerate the overall impact somewhat. Brooks deserves a lot of credit for his defense, when he's placed as the primary defender on Wemby, Wemby struggles. A lot of this is owing to Brook's effectiveness at pushing Wemby further out of the paint, although Wemby also likes to play like Durant, which also helps a lot since Wemby trying to play like Durant is when Brook's defense is most effective.
After a few weeks you can almost say Bye bye Wemby because the Rockets have 1 single Spurs game in 5 months. Fun scheduling.
Not sure If Im ok with Jalens usage at 30> either. I think he still has to evolve a little more before being handed the reigns like that.
